Before I blacked out, I saw someone rush toward me. It was Elias Vane, the eldest son of the Grand Elder of the Blood Witch Clan, and my childhood friend.

Half an hour later, Eleanor rushed to the villa with her people, only to find the courtyard soaked in blood and a muddy, bloodstained trail where I had dragged myself across the ground.

After questioning the servants, she finally learned what Adrian had done. He had caused a disaster he could never take back.

She knew very well that once I left for good, Adrian’s life would no longer be protected.

The next day was my son’s funeral. Adrian was flying a paper kite to make Rosalie smile when a cane struck him hard across the back.

Then came Eleanor’s furious voice.

“You monster! You killed your own son with your own hands, and now you dare act so carelessly at his funeral? How did the Sterling family raise someone as cold-blooded as you?”

Adrian frowned and said to himself, “Grandmother, Iris went crying to you, didn’t she? Hmph. It’s already this late, and she still hasn’t shown up. You’ve spoiled her so much that she doesn’t know her place anymore.”

In Rosalie’s widened pupils, Adrian saw his own reflection. The skin on his face had dried and shriveled in layers, making him look like an old man long buried in the ground.

Adrian froze for a second. Then he quickly turned his face away and barked at the servants.

“Quick! Bring Iris here!”

Eleanor looked at him with grief in her eyes. Her cane struck the ground hard.

“Too late! It’s all too late!

“You bastard, what exactly did you do to your wife? You nearly killed her and the baby in the delivery room. You took away her chance to ever be a mother again. And after that, you tortured her in this house until she was barely alive.

Adrian stood there, stunned. It took him a long while to gather himself again. Then he gritted his teeth.

“That b*tch really will do anything to fight for my attention.

“She cursed me, and now she’s even clouded your mind until you can’t tell right from wrong.”

Eleanor was so angry she could not speak. She struck him with her cane again.

Rosalie’s tears fell at once.

“Grandmother, Sterling Group will belong to Teddy one day. If you hurt Adrian, who will teach Teddy how to run it?”

Eleanor gave a cold snort and motioned for the servants to bring the doctor forward.

“I am not your grandmother. If I answer to that word from your mouth, I’m afraid it will shorten my life.

When Rosalie saw her cousin, the doctor who should have been on a flight overseas by then, the guilt on her face was impossible to hide.

The doctor was already shaking so badly his legs gave out. He dropped to his knees at once, not daring to hide a thing.
