The wedding felt wrong. 

I couldn’t explain it. 

Everything went according to plan. The emcee stood on stage.

When the emcee asked me to speak, I jolted. That wasn’t part of the plan. 

But the speakers around us blared to life. 

I almost collapsed. My whole body shook. 

It was my voice, from that yacht. 

“I only went after Chloe Carter to humiliate Kian Voss.”

Her fake suicide attempt. I’d only told her not to be stupid, 

tried to calm her down. 

The photo of her hugging me at the hospital–she’d been 

saying goodbye, and I hadn’t had the heart to push her away. 

Nothing had happened between us.
