He Set Me Up at the Wedding, I Took Him Down Chapter 05

He Set Me Up at the Wedding, I Took Him Down Chapter 05

We spent the next day looking at readymade dresses. None fit quite right

I made Jaxon stay with me all day, and we still found nothing

On the way back, I sighed. Too bad. It’s all my fault.”

Jaxon smiled. It’s okay. We’ll take our time.”

I stared into his eyes. Jaxon, since the dress is ruinedmaybe we shouldn’t get married.”

He slammed on the brakes. I lurched forward

I hit his handhe’d moved to protect me. You okay?”

I shook my head

Just kidding.”

He squeezed my hand tightly and pulled me into his arms. Baby, don’t joke about that. You have no idea how long I’ve waited for this.”

Have you

But isn’t this what you and your friends planned

Picking out dresses, sending invitations, making happy memoriesthen stabbing me in the back

I’m just helping you play your part

What are you so scared of

We got home. As soon as the door closed, he pushed me

against the entry cabinet and kissed me hard

His body pressed against mine, hungry and desperate

I turned my face away, gently pushing him off. Jaxon, I don’t feel good. Not now.”

The arrow on the string was stimulated by my suppresing words, and his body stiffened

He studied my face like he was looking for something

After a moment, he sighed and held me, his hand softly rubbing my stomach. Still hurting?”

I didn’t nod or shake my head

He kissed the top of my hair. Sit down. I’ll shower and make you dinner.”

His phone lit up beside me

I unlocked it. Messages from the girl

[Jaxon, still waiting for my invitation!

[Oh, Mrs. Reed asked me to come to your company tomorrow

My resume got accepted! I’m so good!

[Hope everything goes wellthen I can see you every day and bring you lunch I made myself!

I set the phone down quietly

I opened my weddingplanning diary

I wrote: [The countdown to the wedding is 19 days. Today, I went to choose a wedding dress with Jaxon

Too bad none fit. Maybe I lost too much weight looking for him. But it’s okay

I’m so happy to be his bride soon. He feels the same, right?

I scrolled up and added entries for the past few days

[30 days until the wedding. Jaxon is gone. I can’t find him. I stared at our wedding plans on my tablet and cried all night

My eyes are swollen.

[20 days until the wedding. Jaxon came home. I’m so weak. Did I push him too hard? Is he having cold feet? It’s my fault. I just love him so much.

All of this would be the most painful gift I ever gave him

Jaxon ended up choosing the dress. He said it would do for now, and he’d commissioned another masterpiece from the same designerfor our wedding on the island

The island he’d bought and named after me when he proposed

How ironic

The man who’d said he’d finally gotten his wish was the same

one planning to leave me at the altar

Tell me, Jaxon. Is finding a sincere heart really this hard

I saw the girl’s new post. Got the job! Jaxon keeps me close! One step closer to my crush! Hehe!”

Attached. a sneaky photo of Jaxon in a meeting

I took screenshots of everything

I wrote in my diary. 17 days until the wedding. The moon above the sea is the moon in the sky; the person before me is the one in my heart.”

Few people knew the next line. My heart has always been that of a bystander, yet I am trapped in the play

It was all just a fragile, empty dream

But I was going to build him a perfect dream of happiness- then let him crash hard

For the next week, I made Jaxon do everything with me

I let him handle every single detail of the wedding with the

planners

I wanted him to know every step inside and out

Every flower, every little thingI made him learn where it

came from

I made him memorize the schedule down to the minute

He hugged me, whining playfully. Marrying you is hard work

baby.”

I smiled. Jaxon, if it’s this much workyou wouldn’t run away on our wedding day, would you?”

He went quiet

After a long moment, he held me tight. Baby, I could never leave you. I love you more than anything.”

But the man who loved me more than anythingsent

message to his friend group. Weddings are exhausting

Makes ditching her at the altar even more satisfying, right?”

Leaving me with a complete disaster

Humiliating me in front of everyone I loved

That was Jaxon’s idea of revenge

I didn’t say a word. I pulled him to write invitations

We’d already sent them out, but I suggested we send another

set to our closest friends

He wrote them by hand. I sat beside him

I made him write. Morning brings hope, evening brings peace, and all we meet is sweet.”

I smiled at him. This is the life I want.”

He didn’t reply. I saw him text the girl. I’ll give you your

invitation tomorrow.”

The girl sent a happy emoji

I wrote. 8 days until the wedding. Will we get our happy

ending?”

Of course not.
