He Said He’d Marry Her, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 13

The call ended.

I was furious and humiliated, my face flushing hot.

How had I given him that brooch?

It was on prom night.

Ethan and I had both been drinking.

We were on the third floor of the Whitmore estate, in my bedroom.

He had pressed me against the door and kissed me, deep and long.

By the end of it, I could barely stand.

He was clearly aroused, too.

But he’d stopped himself.

As he was about to leave, I called him back and shoved the brooch into his hand.

I told him what it meant.

He hadn’t said anything, but he’d taken it.

That was why I thought he had accepted my feelings.

The last few years had been a terrible dream.

Now that I was finally awake, I just wanted to sever all ties.

I had thought Ethan would be eager to get rid of it, that he would toss the brooch back at me like a piece of trash.

I never imagined he would say something like that.

It was only in that moment that I finally understood.

The foolish things you do when you’re young will always come back to haunt you.

If the brooch didn’t have that meaning, I would never have asked for it back.

But I was getting married.

Leaving it with Ethan was unfair to Daniel.
