He Said He Hated Me, Then Begged To Be Mine Chapter 09

For as long as Cassian could remember, Elara loved secretly 

crying over Lorcan’s photos. 

He knew the man who often came to secretly look at Elara and 

him was Lorcan. 

He couldn’t understand why other children had fathers who 

stayed with them, fathers they could sit on and act spoiled 

with, while his Lorcan could only hide in the dark. 

One day, when he went out to play, he ran into a hateful 

woman named Genevieve. 

Genevieve stared at his face. Jealousy flashed in her eyes, and her beautiful face twisted into something sharp and ugly. 

She looked down at him from above, her words cruel as knives. 

“Bastard. You’ll never match my son. Go tell your mother not 

to covet what isn’t hers.” 

Before Cassian could ask who this hateful woman was, Elara 

got into a car accident. 

When he was brought to Cedars–Sinai, Lorcan was crouched 

by the bed, sobbing. The once powerful, dazzling man seemed 

to age ten years in an instant, white strands appearing at his 

temples. 

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” 

A month later, Cassian lost his mother, Elara, and his father, 

Lorcan. 

Then he was sent to Vance Estate. 

The adults thought he was just a child. 

But he understood everything. 

He did not understand why they had to leave him behind alone. He wanted to stay with Elara and Lorcan forever. 

Just when Cassian felt that life had no meaning, a noisy little sparrow appeared beside him. 

She had endless energy every day and endless questions. 

But no matter how many questions she asked, she never asked 

the questions other children asked. 

“Why don’t you have a dad?” 

“Why don’t you have a mom?” 

“Are you unwanted?” 

The little sparrow would also fight for him. 

She was a delicate little princess who needed people to blow on 

even the tiniest scrape, yet she pulled hair and scratched faces 

when fighting others. She made herself look like a little stray 

cat. 

She was clearly in so much pain she wanted to cry, but in front of him, she still patted her chest like a boss and said she would protect him forever. 

Falling for Aurelia Vance was inevitable. 

No one could not like her. 

But the conversation he accidentally overheard pierced through his dream. 

“What’s so good about Cassian Holt, that ice block?” 

“I like challenges. I’ll confess. He’ll definitely say yes. Then 

each of you can Venmo me fifty–two K.” 

“If you catch and release him, I’ll send you five hundred 

twenty K.” 

“Deal.” 

All these years, he had been neither warm nor cold to Aurelia. 

He was afraid of being abandoned, so he would rather never 

have her at all. 

But in the end, he had overestimated himself. 

After that night at Chateau Marmont, all of his reason 

completely collapsed. 

He only wanted to keep her by his side, no matter what 

identity he had to take, no matter what price he had to pay. 

Even if she only treated him as someone to play with on a 

whim, he would accept it. 

At worst, when she got tired of him, he would lock her up. 

Whatever type she liked, he would become it. 

But Aurelia didn’t want him anymore. 

How could Aurelia not want him? 

He had finally caught that beam of light. How could he watch it slip through his fingers? 

After that, Cassian became almost clingy. 

He stopped maintaining his aloof, superior front and started finding every possible way to appear in front of me, as if afraid 

I would delete him from my life in the next second. 

When I came home, my slippers were already placed at the 

door. 

When I had just picked up a napkin, he handed me one first. 

When I merely pressed my lips together, he pushed a bottle of 

evian toward me. 

Even the things I told Consuelo to throw away, he dug out of 

the trash in silence. 

It was as if he was using those tiny, meaningless gestures to prove that as long as he was willing to lower his head, I should 

turn back and look at him once. 

Unfortunately, I no longer wanted to look.
