On the wedding day, I arrived dressed to kill. 

A custom red mermaid gown hugged every curve, the hem glittering with embedded diamonds that caught the light like 

scattered stars. 

The moment I stepped into the ballroom, every pair of eyes 

locked onto me. 

Guests leaned in, whispering behind their hands. 

“Isn’t that Aria Carrington? What’s she doing here?” 

“God, she’s stunning. She’s outshining the whole room.” 

“Didn’t she used to be Landon’s constant plus–one? Is she here to ruin the wedding?” 

I ignored the prying looks and walked straight to the head 

table. 

Landon and Skylar were greeting guests. 

When Landon spotted me, his brow furrowed. 

But he recovered fast. A flicker of understanding, and smug satisfaction, crossed his face. 

He thought I’d come around. Thought I’d surrendered. “Aria, 

I’m so glad you came.” 

“I thought you were still angry.” 

“It’s better this way. We’ll go back to how things were. I’ll smooth things over with Sky.” 

I looked at his hypocritical face and nearly laughed out loud. 

Even now, he was still dreaming of having both of us. 

The delusional entitlement made me sick. 

“Really?” 

I smiled and pulled my hand free. 

“Don’t flatter yourself, Landon. I’m only here to drop off a wedding gift for the happy couple.” 

Skylar glided over and linked her arm through Landon’s, radiating victory. 

“Aria, I’m so happy you came to celebrate with us.” 

She made a point of pressing a hand to her barely–there belly. “After all, we’re basically family now.” 

The officiant’s voice rang out, “Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we’ve all been waiting for, please welcome the bride and groom to the stage!” 

A spotlight hit them. The live stream cameras locked on. 

Landon took Skylar’s hand and led her onto the stage. 

Moments later, it was time for the ring.
