At ten p.m., the lock clicked.

Landon walked in with his arm around Skylar. They were laughing about something.

Skylar had changed into a white dress, her hair down, a tipsy flush on her cheeks, clearly just back from dinner.

Landon saw the living room and his expression darkened.

“Gordon.”

He frowned. “Why isn’t Skylar’s room ready?”

I rose from the couch. “Because I stopped it.”

Landon turned. When he saw me, his face softened a fraction.

He let go of Skylar’s shoulder and walked over. “Aria, what are you doing?”

“What am I doing?”

I held his gaze. “This is my house. I decide what happens in it.”

“Not just her stuff, yours too.”

I clapped my hands.

The butler and two housekeepers came downstairs carrying Landon’s suitcases and several large boxes.

“I’ve already had your things packed for you.”

I looked at Landon. “Take them and get the hell out of my house. Now.”

Landon glanced at the boxes and didn’t move.

Skylar’s face twisted. She started to speak, but Landon lifted a hand to stop her.

He looked at me, his face completely blank. “Fine. If we’re not welcome, we have other properties.”

“You can get rid of this stuff.”

He turned, wrapped his arm around Skylar’s waist, and walked out without looking back.

The door clicked shut.

I stood there, fists clenched.

It wasn’t until they were long gone that I finally exhaled.

I stared at the pile of belongings and said, “Burn it.”

The butler hesitated, then silently went for gasoline. The flames lit up half the sky.

Landon’s suits, ties, leather shoes, documents, one after another, into the fire.

Not long after, my phone buzzed.

A text from Skylar. [Doesn’t matter if you don’t want me there, sis. He’s got plenty of houses.]

[Landon will always choose me.]

[The man you loved for so long is mine now. Honestly, it’s sad being you.]

Beneath it, a photo: her and Landon in bed together.

I stared at the image and smiled.

[A dog I raised for ten years, and you’re bragging about him?]

[If you’re that into my leftovers, take him. You two belong in the same dumpster.]

I sent the messages and powered off my phone. Then I went to my bedroom.
