He Replaced Me in Three Days So I Replaced Him in One Night Chapter 06

He Replaced Me in Three Days So I Replaced Him in One Night Chapter 06

Ethan stated it as undeniable fact. “She was at the hospital to see me.” Finn’s laughter was a low,

agreeable sound.

“If that’s the story you need to tell yourself, by all means, believe it.”

He linked his arm through mine and led me inside.

Nodding to a waiter, he said, “Bring two more crates of liquor- everyone keep the party going.”

Finn’s reputation preceded him-

his birthdays were always wild, drunken affairs.

Yet today, he didn’t smell of alcohol at all.

“Why aren’t you drinking with them?”

Finn sighed, “No time for that, Clara.”

He glanced back at me, his gaze drifting from my face to my belly.

“You really picked the perfect time to come back for a checkup. I haven’t even had a sip of liquor.”

I didn’t fully grasp his meaning,

but I didn’t care much either.

I’d only returned to confirm the results in the country.

The father’s identity didn’t matter much to me.

But the Foster family wasn’t some ordinary clan-

to avoid future disputes, it was better to talk to him directly.

“What do you think?”

I spoke honestly, “If you don’t want this, I’ll go abroad to give birth. I’ll never bring the child back, and you don’t have to worry about me using them for money. If you do want it, I can have the baby legitimately. If you’re willing to pay child support, I’ll give them a better life- I won’t bother you

much.”

At that, Finn just smiled.

I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.

We had walked the length of the quiet corridor before he spoke again. “What if I told you we could

make this situation… unimpeachably legitimate?” I frowned, puzzled.

In my mind, his acknowledgment was the pinnacle of legitimacy.

What could possibly be more “legitimate” than that?

“Master Finn, Miss Clara.”

The maid at the door greeted us and opened it.

Inside the hall, every member of the Foster family stood up.

Their eyes passed over Finn and settled on me,

staring straight at my belly in unison.

A maid quickly fetched a soft chair for me.

“This must be Miss Clara,” an elder said. “It was short notice, but this is all we could prepare. Here’s

the engagement gift list- take a look. If you need anything else, just say so, and we’ll make it

happen.”

The table was covered with red paper, the ink still slightly damp.

At the far end, scribbling away with a brush, was the Foster family patriarch.

“This is the postpartum nutrition plan- we’ve arranged for a doula, nutritionist, chef, and recovery

trainer. And this is the property deed transfer agreement. Once the baby is born, boy or girl, these

properties will be in your name. Take your time to review them.”

I was guided to sit down, staring at the stack of red engagement documents.

Slowly, it sank in- what Finn had meant by “even more legitimate.”

The Fosters looked at me without disdain, coldness,

or stinginess.

I turned to Finn, “You want to marry me?”

“We’re having a baby- why wouldn’t I?”

I gave him a subtle look. Finn hesitated for a moment, then led me out of the main hall.

Outside, servants were already on ladders, hanging strings of scarlet lanterns from the eaves. The

speed of it all was dizzying. I’ve never been one for oblique approaches.

I faced him. “Let’s be clear. We hardly know each other. This is… unprecedented.”

“Who made the rule that you have to ‘know each other’ to marry?” Finn said. “I think we’re a good fit. Instead of running around abroad with the baby stay with the Fosters. Both you and the child will be part of the family.”

I stared at him for a long time, still surprised.

“I was in a seven-year relationship, and he never wanted to marry me. We’ve known each other for thirty days- isn’t this too soon?”

“He proposed to Lila after three days. Our thirty days don’t seem that early now, do they?”

Finn leaned against the corridor, arms crossed, tilting his head at me. “Just get all your worries off your chest.”

“You’re still young. I’m much older than you.”

“Overthinking never helps. Love needs impulse- so does marriage. You’ve lost faith in love, haven’t you? Think about it: marry me, and your child will have a bright future.”

“I was abroad for a month. How can you be so sure the baby is yours? And what about your family…”

Finn nodded, “I sent people to protect you while you were away. Protection, not surveillance.”

“So, when will we get married?”

“In eight days. The Fosters need time to prepare.”

“Okay, I agree.”

With my confirmation, Finn turned back to the main hall.

Less than two minutes later, fireworks exploded outside the Foster residence.

The partygoers in front of the villa cheered wildly.

Finn and I toasted everyone with tea instead of liquor.

“Leaving so soon, Finn?” someone called.

Finn paused, then led me onto the stage.

“Sorry, everyone- double celebration today. Clara and I are engaged. Please join us for our

wedding in eight days. I hope you’ll show my wife the respect she deserves. Thank you.”

The cheering crowd fell silent for a split second,

then erupted again.

My eyes found him in the crowd. Ethan. He was staring, his face a mask of shock that quickly cracked into something darker.

He took a step forward. “Clara.” His voice cut through the noise, strained. “What is this? What game are you playing now?” Finn shifted smoothly, placing himself squarely between Ethan and

“No game, Hale. An engagement. You’re welcome to attend the wedding. Next week.” Ethan wasn’t listening. “Stop this! Finn! Clara, for God’s sake, talk to me! This isn’t funny! We’re not done!”

Finn told me to head to the backyard first.

He stayed behind, holding Ethan’s shoulders to keep him back.

“She’s just marrying me. But you won the cold war you should be happy.”

I walked too far to hear the rest.

I had no idea what they said.

I didn’t hear from Ethan again until our wedding day

It was during the tea ceremony- my parents-in-law were missing.

I asked around and found out: Ethan was trying to short the Foster family’s stock.

In one hour, Ethan lost ten million, and the Fosters lost eight million.

It was his typical reckless style.

Finn checked his watch, then hurried to pull his parents out from backstage.

“The auspicious time is almost here- we need to do the tea ceremony. It’s just a few hundred

million. Let him lose it. My account’s already invested. If he wants to play, let him. After the

wedding, I’ll show him why the Fosters have stood strong for a century.”

“Alright.”

Finn led me in smiling as we served tea.

On the wedding screen, our photos were replaced by stock market loss figures-

from six hundred thousand to thirteen billion,

the red numbers climbing steadily.

By the end of the ceremony, Finn left with his team.

In fifteen minutes, they covered all the losses.

In twenty minutes, the Hale family was bankrupt.

Everyone present left with a new impression of the Foster heir.

When Finn returned, the numbers on the screen had turned green, rising steadily.

He said casually, “All the money we made today is part of your dowry.”

I tilted my head and smiled, “Sounds good.”

I never imagined I’d stumble onto this safe harbor by accident.

No matter how small we are, the sun shines on us all the same-

unafraid of storms or gales.

Seeds always take root and sprout.

May I shine brightly.
