I had just returned to the country, and between managing the acquisition and taking over Hartman

“Alexa,” Grayson’s voice rang out again, persistent as ever. “Spare Caldwell Group. As long as you let Caldwell Group go, I’ll agree to anything you want.”

He looked simultaneously aggrieved and self-righteous, and I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

“You’re not still under the impression that I came back for you, are you?” I asked.

But Grayson stubbornly grabbed my wrist. “Don’t deny it-you have feelings for me.”

“I already checked. Your marriage to Lucas is a family alliance. There’s no love between you.

“This time, he didn’t even come back with you-doesn’t that show he doesn’t care? Divorce him, and we get married. Hartman Group provides the funds, we get through this together, and I’ll treat you well from

now on.”

I yanked my hand free. “Are you insane? You want me to divorce him and be with you? You think you’re worthy? And what about your little ‘sister,’ Tanya?”

Caught off guard by my sharp words, he froze for a moment, then continued, voice rising, “Yeah, it’s all my fault! I treated her so well, and now Caldwell Group is in crisis-and she had the nerve to drain the last

of my money!

“She even colluded with rival companies and sold Caldwell Group’s secrets. That vile woman-I’ve already reported her, and she’s been arrested!”

Grayson grew more and more agitated, and I took the opportunity to quietly step back two paces.

“Alexa… after all this, I realize the only person who truly loves me is you.” His gaze softened suddenly.” You know… as long as you agree, I’ll do anything you want from now on.
