He Pretended To Prepare An Elaborate Luna Ceremony But Secretly Marked Another Omega Chapter 01

The day we finished our final fitting, my fiance, Gabriel Noir, slipped the moonstone ring onto my finger.

He told me I would be the most beautiful Luna the Dewmoon Pack had ever seen.

Full of joy, I headed to the dressing room to change, only to overhear him laughing with his Beta outside the door.

“Alpha, did you really mark that new Omega who just joined the pack? Aren’t you afraid Flora will find out and blow up at you?”

A second later, Gabriel’s voice rang out, light and filled with absolute arrogance.

“Afraid of what? I gave her the title of Luna. What more could she possibly want?”

“Her mother forced out another wolf’s mate just to wedge herself into the Dewmoon Pack back in the day, didn’t she? Like mother, like daughter.”

Like mother, like daughter.

These words were a wolfsbane-laced dagger, ripping right through me.

Staring at my reflection in the mirror, looking at the gorgeous dress, I suddenly felt completely ridiculous.

I took a deep breath, suppressing the roaring wolf inside me.

I didn’t storm out to expose their hypocrisy.

Instead, I calmly slipped the ring off and sent a text to a familiar number.

“Who are you texting?”

Gabriel pushed the dressing room door open, holding a cup of my favorite oat latte.

He walked up to me, his gaze naturally falling on my bare ring finger.

“Why did you take the ring off?”

His tone was as gentle as ever, completely oblivious to anything being wrong.

I placed my phone face down on the vanity.

“It’s nothing. It just felt a little uncomfortable.”

“Is the size too small?”

He set the cup down, taking my hand and rubbing it in his palm.

“I’ll have the manager remeasure you tomorrow. The dress is already heavy enough. If the ring doesn’t fit right either, you’ll be exhausted on the day of the ceremony.”

He kept his head down, intently examining my finger.

Just a minute ago, he’d been leaning against the wall outside the door, showing off photos of a mating bond to his Beta.

I abruptly pulled my hand back. “No need.”

“What’s wrong?” He looked up at me.

“I’m just… a little tired.”

I stood up to avoid him and walked toward the clothing rack.

“Gabriel, I want to go back to the packhouse.”

He let out a soft laugh, stepping up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

He rested his chin on my shoulder.

“Tired? You must have gotten too excited trying on the dress earlier.”

“Wait for me. I’ll go get the car.”

With that, he planted a chaste kiss on my cheek.

If this were the past, I would have thought I was the happiest woman in the world.

Now? I saw right through his lies.

“Okay,” I said, keeping my voice completely flat.

Gabriel patted my hair in satisfaction, turned, and walked out.

The moment the door clicked shut, a wave of nausea hit me, and I rushed over to the trash can.

My phone screen lit up.

My friend Jacqueline, who served as the chief secretary to the pack elders, had replied.

“Flora, I found it.”

“Two weeks ago, the Alpha secretly brought an Omega to one of the elders and submitted a mating bond.”

“The mate’s name is Samantha.”

Samantha.

The Omega who had joined the Dewmoon Pack just three months ago.

Two weeks ago, Gabriel claimed he had to leave in a rush to negotiate an alliance with the neighboring Ravenreach Pack.

I had even made him a sandwich with my own hands at the packhouse for his trip.

Turns out he was taking that Omega to the elders to seal a mating bond.

I stared at the name on the screen, my eyes burning with a dry ache.

But I didn’t cry.

There was only cold disappointment and disgust at Gabriel’s betrayal.

“Flora, Flora? Why aren’t you changed yet?”

Gabriel had returned, leaning against the doorframe as he waited for me.

“Just a second.” I pulled back the changing room curtain.

“Need some help?”

He stepped inside, his hand naturally reaching for the zipper on my back.

I sidestepped his touch. “No.”

His hand froze in midair, then he let out a helpless laugh.

“Are you mad? Just because I took that call outside and didn’t come right back?”

“There was an urgent pack matter. An Omega messed up some data, and I had to handle it.”

I kept my back to him. “Don’t worry, I’m not mad.” I carefully hung up the dress.

“Then you must be hungry. Want some cinnamon rolls from the bakery on the corner? Or should we try that restaurant we couldn’t get a reservation at last time?”

My movements froze for a fraction of a second.

“I don’t eat cinnamon rolls.”

“Why? You used to love pastries.”

“Gabriel, I’m not the one who loves pastries. I absolutely hate the taste of cinnamon.”

A dead silence fell over the dressing room.
