He Pretended to Forget Me, So I Erased Him for Real Chapter 09

After that encounter, Gideon became obsessive. No matter how many times I told him I had no memory of

him, he refused to believe it. He dropped all his prestige, standing outside my door with roses night after

night.

The flowers withered. He stood there through the rain. And because of his interference, Julian’s favorability

kept climbing.

It was at 95% now. Almost there.

When Julian’s car pulled up, I opened the window. Gideon’s face lit up instantly.

“Elara, you’re finally looking at me.”

“Let’s put the past behind us, okay? I’ll treat you right. If I ever lie to you again, may hell take me!” He

brandished the roses, shouting at the top of his lungs. “Elara, I love you!”

“Hah! You claim to love her, yet you don’t even know she prefers sunflowers over roses?” Julian’s mocking

voice cut through the air.

Gideon turned pale. Julian, looking like a victorious king, waved my house keys in his face and strode inside.

Gideon could only watch, looking like he was about to pass out again,

After dinner, Gideon’s voice drifted in again. “Elara… please, just one look.”

From the window, I saw him holding that old wedding portrait. Julian’s pupils dilated with fury; he snapped

his chopsticks in half.

“I’ll go talk to him,” I said calmly.

Just as I reached for the door, Julian pinned me against the frame. He left a possessive mark on my neck

and hissed a warning.

“Don’t you dare cave for him.”

The moment I stepped out, Gideon rushed me. “Elara, I don’t believe you’ve forgotten. This is the life you

wanted. You were so desperate for this wedding. How could you forget?”

My heart remained detached. He grabbed my hand, trembling. “Even if I lied… the love was genuine.”

“Forgive me. Come back.”

I pulled my hand away with icy resolve. “Gideon, I genuinely don’t remember our past.”

“And even if I did, I would only loathe you. This hand was nearly ruined because of you. My mother is still in a coma. What makes you think you deserve mercy?”

Gideon flinched as if struck. “Is there… truly no hope for us?”

“None,” I replied chillingly.

[Julian’s favorability +1… Current status: 99% !]

Tears tracked down Gideon’s face. “Then… just one last hug?”

I took a step forward. I saw the last flicker of hope in his eyes. I leaned in and whispered so only he could

hear:

“You used me to lie; now, I’m using you to win.”

The door behind me slammed open. Gideon’s eyes widened in realization. The last light in them

extinguished.

Julian hauled me up and tossed me onto the sofa, his kiss consuming and frantic. “Elara Vane, you’re mine!”

[Julian’s favorability: 100%! Mission complete! Rewards pending!]

I caught his hands, breathless. “I’m yours. But…”

“My mother is awake.”

That night, Gideon got wasted. Vivienne took her chance. She ended up pregnant. A gutted Gideon felt forced

to take responsibility.

The “guardian and ward” became husband and wife-the scandal of the city. But on the wedding day, the celebration turned into a felony. The bride was dead; the groom was the killer.

I ran into one of Gideon’s old cronies later. He told me the truth.

On the wedding day, Gideon found out the baby wasn’t his. Vivienne had always been wild behind his back.

During her Sweet Sixteen, she had an accidental miscarriage. To hide it from Gideon, she bribed the doctors to call it “food poisoning.”

I had been the patsy all along.

When Gideon learned the truth, he strangled Vivienne with his bare hands before drinking poison himself.

Listening to the story, I felt nothing. It was just another trashy tabloid headline to me. Julian took my hand,

our fingers interlocking.

“Let’s go. The bridal consultant is waiting.”

I smiled. “I’m ready.”
