He Only Wanted His Foster Sister, Yet Burned For Me Instead Chapter 03

He Only Wanted His Foster Sister, Yet Burned For Me Instead Chapter 03

Hilary Sterling treated me like a puppet, an amusement to be played with. Since Tristan was her brother, it was only fair that he endured her share of my vengeance.

I stayed with him for a while longer, watching his reactions closely.

The livestream chat was right—his emotions ran incredibly deep.

After that, time passed quickly without either of us noticing.

Whatever happened that night remained unresolved, leaving both of us unsettled.

I’d spent years quietly fixated on every little detail of Tristan, every quiet, restrained gesture he made.

Our long conversation left lingering tension hanging thick between us.

At the height of the heat, I leaned over Tristan, feeling a dark, possessive urge spiral completely out of control inside me.

“That tattoo dedicated only to Hilary stings to look at,” I murmured, brushing my finger lightly over the ink. “I hope you’ll reconsider keeping it later.”

Tristan knit his brows, his eyes flashing with what looked like pure hatred. Without a word, he held my shoulders firmly, pulling himself upright and ruthlessly leaving me speechless until I couldn’t form a single coherent sentence.

When I woke up the next morning, the side of the bed beside me was already cold and empty.

The floating chat instantly filled me in on where he’d gone:

[Hahaha, the male lead was consumed by anger and couldn’t rest at all. As soon as our talk ended, he left soon after and avoided me entirely the next day to calm down.]

[Honestly, her whole demeanor feels so mismatched next to him, it’s uncomfortable to watch. The male lead must be completely repulsed by her right now.]

[Ooh, the female lead is bringing her other e-boyfriend home for lunch today! The undercurrents at that dining table are going to be wild. The male lead is going to be driven absolutely insane with jealousy, but because he’s stuck playing the protective big brother, he won’t be able to say a word… The tangled tension between them is so intense!]

Hilary’s petty little trap was blindingly obvious. But did she really think I would let her enjoy it?

I logged back into Hilary’s burner Instagram account and shot Tristan a DM:

[Bad move. Who said you could leave without asking me?]

[I’m hungry. We’re having lunch together.]

The second text didn’t go through. The message failed to deliver, flashing a blunt error icon on the screen—a warning pointing to an unvarnished fact: Tristan had blocked me.

I instantly sent another message through his public profile request list, attaching a note:

[I have something you might want to see, Tristan. You wouldn’t want Hilary getting the wrong idea, would you?]

It took less than sixty seconds for Tristan to unblock me.

[…What do you want?]

I still have photos from our long talk last night. Hilary already doubts your bond, these shots will only make things worse between you two.

This was the only way to keep him from walking away.

[I want to have lunch with you. That’s all.]

Tristan: [I can act like last night never happened. But let me warn you, Maeve—do not try to come between me and my sister.]
