He Mocked My Scar, So I Left Him to His Regret Chapter 05

The next morning, Holden was jolted awake by his ringing phone.

Lockwood’s voice crackled through the line, tight with anger.

“Holden, do you know where Lucia is?”

The sound of her name shocked him fully awake.

“What’s wrong, Officer? Why are you looking for her?”

Lockwood let out a heavy snort.

“God knows how, but she scored fifteen-eighty on the territorial

entrance exam-just twenty points shy of a perfect score.”

“The academy sent her results to the Gray Harbor education channel. The TV station and the newspapers have been calling my office all morning. They can’t reach Lucia, so they keep asking

me where she is.”

Holden glanced at the clock on the wall.

“At this hour, she should be at that restaurant from yesterday.”

By the time he rushed over, news vans were already parked outside.

A cameraman was setting up equipment on the sidewalk, surrounded by reporters holding microphones.

Two of them were speaking in low voices.

“This Lucia girl is brilliant. With grades like that, she’s still working in a restaurant to save for tuition.”

“But isn’t her father the owner of Lockwood Real Estate and Mooncrest’s financial officer? The family obviously isn’t short on money. Why would she need to earn her own tuition?”

“That’s what’s so strange. None of that was in the academy’s report. We’ve been waiting here for ages and haven’t seen a sign of her.”
