He Loved My Fake Self Chapter 19

He Loved My Fake Self Chapter 19

Graduation swallowed everything.

Peyton and Jolene’s drama faded into gossip, then into nothing.

The last anyone heard, Jolene’s scarring was still severe. It had damaged her eye. She was traveling for

surgeries.

As for Peyton-three years. Assault causing bodily harm.

When it came up as idle gossip once, someone asked, “Her parents wanted compensation. Said they’d drop it if his family paid up. Why’d they let him go to prison instead?”

I didn’t join that conversation.

I knew the answer.

Peyton’s parents had divorced early. Both started new families. He became the leftover no one wanted.

After he turned eighteen, he’d fallen for someone once. She’d liked him back. But eventually she got bored. Called him dull. Dead. Had nothing to say.

When she left, she spat at him-No wonder your parents didn’t want you either.

He never tried again after that.

He’d told me all of it. I’d read those messages and cried.

Now, I felt none of it.

I said nothing.
