He Loved Me in Secret, Until I Became Someone He Could Never Have Chapter 12

Three months later, Bellandi Holdings officially acquired a controlling stake in Rinaldi Holdings.

Not the Rinaldi Family.

Just Alessio’s precious legal empire.

After signing the final documents, he sat in the conference room and asked Bellandi’s legal counsel, “How is she?”

The lawyer gathered his files. “Miss Bellandi is doing well.”

A pause.

“She and Mr. Moretti will be married next month. Formal ceremony.”

“Mr. Valerio asked me to pass along a message. If you’d like, you’re on the guest list.”

Alessio didn’t speak. He just nodded.

The wedding took place at a private bay in Port Aurelia.

No grand Family spectacle.

No gunfire.

Just white flowers.

The salt breeze rolling in off the water. A guest list that went on forever.

Key members of both Families were there. Bellandi and Moretti.

Valerio stood at the end of the aisle.

He didn’t rush me.

He never asked me to sacrifice myself for either Family.

At our first meeting, he’d told me plainly, “If you don’t want this, the engagement can be called off. The alliance can be built another way.”

That was the first time I learned something.

He wanted me. But he still asked if I wanted him too.

I walked toward him in my wedding dress.

Valerio reached out his hand.

I placed mine in his.

The sea breeze caught my veil.

I thought back to five years ago.

Alessio and I were still in that tiny apartment near campus.

He said, “When we make it, I’ll give you a home.”

He made it. But that home was never mine. And now, I didn’t need anyone to hand me a home!

Dominic sat in the front row on the bride’s side.

After the ceremony, he snapped a photo.

In it, I was turned toward Valerio, mid-sentence, sunlight in my hair.

I looked at ease.

He sent it to Alessio with one line: [She’s happy.]

Alessio had come.

He never entered the wedding area. He just stood at a distance, watching through the crowd.

The dark blue velvet ring box was still in his jacket pocket.

He looked at Dominic’s photo for a long moment.

Then he locked his phone. He didn’t walk over. He didn’t call my name.

Much later, he spoke into the sea wind, quiet enough that only he could hear.

“Congratulations, Vittoria.”

“This time, I won’t stand in your way.

I didn’t hear him. And I didn’t need to.

Because the story of Vivienne Cole ended the day I left Grayhaven.

From now on, I’m Vittoria Bellandi.

And I finally learned something.

The person who truly loves you won’t hide you to prove his fairness.

He won’t crush your dignity and then secretly pay for the damage.

He’ll stand in front of everyone.

Take your hand. And tell the world.

“This is the one I chose.”
