He Left Me to Freeze, So I Burned His World Down Chapter 26

Inside the church, the wedding was underway.

Ava, in a pure white gown, walked step by step down the soft red carpet toward Bennett, who stood waiting before the altar.

He wore a perfectly tailored black suit, the smile in his eyes warmer than she had ever seen it. He held out his hand and took hers.

As she reached him, thunderous applause filled the church.

Bennett held her hand tightly. His voice was soft, but clear enough for her to hear every word.

“Ava, I’ve waited a long time for this day.”

“So have I.” Ava looked into his eyes, which held undisguised love and respect. “I’ve waited a long time, too.”

Bennett smiled, and it was a smile that dispelled every shadow from her past.

“Don’t tell me you were waiting in another future.”

“I know you didn’t believe me at first.”

“I believe you now.” Bennett tightened his grip, as if holding his entire world. “Because in that future, I didn’t have you. And here, you are my only wife. Whatever you say, I believe.”

The priest opened the ceremony book, his solemn voice echoing through the church.

“Mr. Bennett Shaw, do you take Miss Ava Hart to be your wife, to love her, care for her, and respect her for all the days of your life?”

Bennett didn’t hesitate. His voice was firm and resonant.

“I do.”

The priest turned to Ava, a kind smile on his face.

“Miss Ava Hart, do you—”

“Let go of me! I need to see Ava!”

A violent commotion from outside the church’s oak doors interrupted the sacred vows.

Ava turned and saw Graham being held back by two tall bodyguards. He wore a wrinkled suit, his hair was a mess, and his eyes were bloodshot. He looked like a cornered animal.

“Ava, don’t marry him! Come back to me!”

His voice was hoarse with desperate pleading.

“I know I was wrong. I swear I’ll never let you suffer again. I’ll give everything back to you. Please, don’t marry him. Please?”

Whispers rippled through the guests.

All eyes were on Ava, waiting for her reaction.

She looked at him for two seconds.

There was no expression on her face. No hatred, no pity, not even a flicker of emotion. It was as if she were looking at a stranger.

Then she slowly turned back to the priest, her voice calm and clear.

“Please continue.”
