He Left Me in the Rain with No Memory And Now I’m Someone Else’s Wife Chapter 01

He Left Me in the Rain with No Memory And Now I’m Someone Else’s Wife Chapter 01

After I finished high school, I was diagnosed with progressive amnesia.

I would gradually forget everyone, including myself.

When I got home, my parents placed the share transfer documents—which should have been mine—in front of the fake heiress, Vanessa Croft.

“Ella, you’re the older sister. You need to be more considerate of your little sister. Stop always picking on Vanessa. It makes us sick just looking at you.”

I nodded and went back to my room, crying the entire night.

But when I woke up the next morning, I couldn’t for the life of me remember why my pillow was damp.

That afternoon, I met my fiancé, Gideon Ashford.

He was wiping away Vanessa’s tears, and he shot me a look of pure disgust.

“Ella, I just got a little close to Vanessa. Did you really have to throw a fit about breaking off the engagement the other day? You’re insane.”

I cried so hard at his words.

But at the dinner table the next day, when Gideon coldly snarled at me, I just stared at him blankly. “Who are you?”

I was forgetting things faster and faster.

Until that evening, when Gideon said he’d take me for a drive.

He pulled the car over on a desolate roadside. “Ella, go grab something from the trunk for me.”

I obediently got out of the car.

Gideon floored the gas pedal and sneered, “You want to act out? Stay here and think about it!”

The car drove off.

I stood by the roadside, my mind a complete blank.

I wanted to go home, but I couldn’t remember the address for the life of me.

By the time the Croft household was in an uproar, by the time Gideon had searched every corner of the city, they finally realized.

I had really disappeared.

After being diagnosed with progressive amnesia, I started keeping a diary every day.

While I could still remember, I’d write down what I needed to do the next day.

I flipped open my notebook with practiced ease and read what I’d written yesterday.

[Day 7 of memory loss. I seem to be forgetting more and more things.]

[1. I will never like Gideon Ashford again.]

[2. I’m an adult now. Remember to go to the bubble tea shop at 10 for my summer job to save up for college tuition. Address: 42 Camden High St, Milk & Pearl, Northern Line, Camden Town.]

There were a few more lines faintly written below, but the ink had been blurred by water, impossible to make out.

It was probably my tears.

But I couldn’t remember why I’d cried yesterday.

I didn’t dwell on it either.

After all, no one but me cared.

And I definitely didn’t dare tell anyone I was sick.

Even though I was the real heiress, I was utterly unwelcome in this family. If I came out with it, my parents would only call me a “retarded charity case they took back.”

So I put away my diary and got ready to go to work.

Just as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I heard laughter and chatter coming from the living room.

My parents, the fake heiress Vanessa, and…

I paused for a few seconds before I finally remembered that the cold-faced man was my fiancé, Gideon Ashford.

He never looked at me kindly. You could even call it disdain.

“Get your ass over here and apologize to Vanessa right now.”

“Your parents just transferred the shares to Vanessa yesterday, and you go and splash boiling water on her arm. Ella, how vicious can you be?”

I looked at Vanessa’s fair arm and had zero recollection of ever burning her.

But I did wake up this morning with a nasty burn on my inner calf, throbbing like crazy.

When I just stood there dazed, my mother impatiently shoved me.

“Damn girl, apologize now! Stop playing dumb!”

I lost my balance and stumbled two steps.

My knee slammed hard into the edge of the coffee table, the pain making me break out in cold sweat on the spot, nearly sending me to my knees.

Luckily, Gideon reached out and caught me.

But as soon as I was steady, he pulled his hand back.

He even grabbed a tissue to wipe his fingers in disgust, then coldly urged, “Apologize. Now.”

I could tell none of them liked me, but I truly couldn’t remember what really happened.

I had no way to explain myself.

So I just bowed my head and apologized to Vanessa, proper and sincere.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to splash you.”

“I’ll be more careful next time.”

Vanessa waved her hand at me smugly.

“Forget it, I’ll forgive you this time. But if there’s a next time…”

“If there’s a next time, I’ll ship you straight back to that backwater hick town, and don’t you dare set foot in my Croft family’s door again!”

My mother cut in to finish the sentence.

Then she waved me off in disgust.

“Alright, if there’s nothing else, get lost. The sight of your dull, stupid face annoys me!”

My nose stung with the urge to cry, but I forced the tears down.

I thought, once I get to college and get away from this family, everything will be fine.

But I hadn’t even taken two steps when Vanessa’s voice came from behind.

“Ella, wait.”

“There’s one more thing!”
