He Left Me For His Pregnant Ex, So I Took Everything Chapter 06

He Left Me For His Pregnant Ex, So I Took Everything Chapter 06

His face couldn’t hide the sting.

A department manager stepped forward. “Chairwoman Stirling, are paychecks at risk?”

“No. This afternoon, we’ll clear last month’s performance bonuses.”

The crowd stirred.

Another employee asked, “Are projects continuing?”

“Profitable ones continue. The ones that lose money and support cronies get cut.”

Garrett snapped, “Do you even know which projects make money?”

I pulled up my tablet. “Riverdale channel—loss of twenty million. Managed by Ruby’s cousin.”

“Westside showroom—budget exceeded by triple. Supplier is Mrs. Vance’s mahjong partner.”

“The lakeside villa renovation—booked under Garrison Group’s entertainment expenses.”

Employees turned to look at Garrett.

He roared, “Scarlett, stop twisting things!”

I said, “All the financials are here. You’re welcome to explain them to everyone.”

He didn’t reach for the file.

I addressed the staff. “Garrison Group is not the Vance family’s personal piggy bank. Those who want to work, stay. Those who want to pick sides—HR is waiting.”

No one moved.

Any confidence left on Garrett’s face had evaporated.

Ruby ran in from the elevator. “Garrett, don’t listen to her. She just wants everyone to laugh at you!”

I turned to her. “Your cousin’s contract. You recommended him, didn’t you?”

Ruby faltered. “I just made an introduction.”

“The company lost twenty million. He pocketed over three million in consulting fees.”

Someone gasped.

Ruby panicked. “I didn’t know!”

“You do now.”

Garrett spun on her. “Your cousin took three million?”

Tears spilled down Ruby’s face. “I really didn’t know, Garrett. You have to believe me.”

I walked past them.

Summer caught up, whispering, “Ms. Stirling, that was amazing.”

“Don’t get too excited. That’s only the first bill.”

Mrs. Vance showed up at Garrison Group the next day with an entourage of Vance relatives.

They clogged the lobby, voices climbing.

“Scarlett Stirling stole the company!”

“Garrett is the Vance family heir. How dare an outsider run things?”

By the time I reached the lobby, the receptionist was near tears.

Mrs. Vance jabbed a finger at me the moment she saw me. “There she is!”

The relatives surrounded me.

“Scarlett, you can’t be this heartless.”

“Garrett treated you well. Why are you repaying him like this?”

I asked, “Which part of ‘treated me well’?”

One relative said, “You were part of the Vance family for years. They never mistreated you.”

I laughed. “How many Vance family dinners did I actually attend?”

Silence.

I continued: “Garrett was busy with his career. I took care of his parents, networked for him, drank for him at dinners. Every time Mrs. Vance saw me, she asked when I’d give her a grandchild.”

Mrs. Vance shrieked. “You never did!”

Everyone in the lobby turned.

I nodded. “So you let Ruby come in already pregnant. And you let Garrett lie to me about the divorce.”

Mrs. Vance’s panic showed. “You’re lying.”

I pulled out a transcribed call log. “This is a recorded conversation between you and Garrett’s former assistant. Want me to read it aloud?”

Mrs. Vance lunged for it.

Security held her back.

She screamed, “Scarlett, you wouldn’t dare!”

“Try me.”

Ruby appeared at the entrance. The softness from yesterday was gone.

“Scarlett, Mrs. Vance is older. Do you really have to humiliate her?”

I asked, “How do you always show up so perfectly on cue?”

“I’m part of this family.”

“Then stay and listen.”

I addressed everyone.

“I’m not airing the Vance family’s dirty laundry today. That’s out of respect for Garrison Group employees.”

“But if anyone comes here to cause trouble again—I’ll lay out every detail. Garrett lying about the divorce. Mrs. Vance pressuring me to sell my dowry. Ruby living in the Vance house before she was married.

The relatives fell quiet.

One aunt tugged at Mrs. Vance. “Let’s go.”

Mrs. Vance shook her off. “You’re all afraid of her? I’m not!”

I said, “Then stay. Reception’s already called the press.”

Mrs. Vance’s bravado caught in her throat.

Ruby quickly steadied her. “Let’s go home first.”

Mrs. Vance’s feet were already moving, even if her mouth kept fighting.

At the door, I added, “Mrs. Vance, next time, book an appointment. Garrison Group isn’t the Vance family living room.”

Someone in the lobby laughed.

Mrs. Vance turned back to glare.

I didn’t flinch.

She led her people out.

Garrett stepped out of the elevator. He’d clearly watched the whole scene.

He said quietly, “Scarlett, you’ve changed.”

I replied, “You never really knew me.”
