He Killed Me for His Wife, So I Exposed Her Betrayal Chapter 02

He Killed Me for His Wife, So I Exposed Her Betrayal Chapter 02

Helena had always been secretive about her whereabouts.

I was just her alibi. How would I know where she really was?

I answered evenly, “She’s an adult. She can go wherever she wants. I’m not her mother.”

That wasn’t the answer Desmond wanted, and his expression hardened.

He let go of my hair, and his hand cracked across my face without warning.

My head rang.

Rage flared, hot and sharp. But beneath it, a cold anticipation.

He was losing it already? This was just the beginning.

Desmond stared down at me, patting my cheek with a condescending rhythm.

“You think I can’t touch you if you stay quiet?”

With that, he snatched my phone from my pocket, unlocked it with my face, and pulled up my emergency contacts.

A cruel smile twisted his lips when he saw Julian’s name.

He dialed the number.

“Bea, what’s wrong?”

Julian’s voice came through the line, laced with concern.

Before I could speak, a bodyguard’s hand clamped over my mouth.

“You’re Beatrice Wells’s fiancé, I take it?” Desmond’s voice was ice.

“Who is this?” Julian’s voice was tight with alarm.

Desmond stared at me, his words a deliberate performance. “I’m her ex-boyfriend. Don’t worry, I’m married. I’m not interested in her anymore.”

Julian was silent for a beat.

“Then what do you want?”

“Not much. Just thought you should know a few things about your fiancée.”

“The woman has a messy private life. When she was with me, she was sleeping around constantly.”

“It was disgusting. I broke up with her.”

“I know you’re engaged, so I’m giving you a friendly warning. Beatrice isn’t who you think she is.”

“She’s been bleeding my wife dry for years. Made her sell her wedding jewelry for a birthday present. Got a gambling addiction and made my wife max out my credit card to cover her debts in Vegas.”

“And I bet you don’t know this, but when she had an abortion a while back, my wife was the one who took her. I’m guessing that baby wasn’t yours, was it?”

“Aren’t you worried about catching something, being with a woman like that?”

Every word was a calculated insult.

On the other end of the line, Julian was silent for a long time.

Our relationship had always been solid. We were already planning the wedding.

Julian was a good man. He treated me well.

No matter what disagreements we had, he always spoke to me with patience.

But this time… silence.

Desmond hung up, a smug look on his face.

“So? Are you still not going to tell me where Helena is?”

The bodyguard removed his hand from my mouth.

I stared at Desmond. “That’s slander.”

His face contorted with rage.

“Slander?” He laughed, a harsh, ugly sound. “I’ll show you what crossing a line really looks like.”

He turned to his men. “Trash this place.”

The words were barely out of his mouth before they started smashing everything.

Within minutes, my once-tidy apartment was reduced to wreckage.

Through gritted teeth, I said, “Desmond, you think you can get away with this?”

He looked at me with pure contempt.

“You know damn well how much money you’ve leeched off Helena. What in this apartment *wasn’t* bought with her money? I’m just smashing my own property.”

He said it with such conviction.

As if he were delivering justice, not breaking the law.

I glanced at the clock.

Less than half an hour until Helena’s miscarriage.

It was almost time.

I looked at Desmond and said, “Why don’t you wait a little longer? Your wife will be in touch very soon.”

My defiant attitude made his face turn livid.

“Still won’t talk, huh? Fine. Then I’ll let everyone know exactly what kind of person you are.”

“Take her downstairs.”

The bodyguards dragged me downstairs and hauled me into the lobby of the apartment building.

The commotion quickly drew the attention of neighbors and people passing by.

As the crowd grew, Desmond deliberately raised his voice, announcing my “crimes” for all to hear.

Soon, everyone was pointing and whispering.

“That’s disgusting. Her friend is married and pregnant, and she’s still clinging to her like that.”

“Friends like that are the worst. They play the victim to your face, but behind your back, all they want is to use you. My wife got burned by someone like that. She’s still in therapy.”

“Some people just bleed everyone around them dry. First their parents, then their friends, then whoever they’re dating.”

“And she sleeps around that much? I really don’t want to live in the same building as someone like that.”

The accusations came from every direction.

Desmond looked down at me. “Still want to play dumb?”

He thought he’d found my breaking point and was just waiting for me to surrender.

Instead, I laughed.

“Is that all you’ve got? There are only a few people here. They’ll yell at me for a bit, then they’ll go home. I’ll move, and it’ll be over.”

“If you really want to destroy me, you should call some of those livestreamers who hang around downtown. Let them point their cameras at me. Let the whole internet watch. Now *that* would be thorough.”

Desmond’s expression grew even darker.

“Fine. You want an audience? You’ll get one.”

He picked up his phone again.

A thrill of anticipation shot through me.

The bigger the spectacle, the better.

By the time this was over, everyone was going to know exactly what happened inside the DeLuca family.
