He Faked a Disease to Test Me for Three Years, I Used the Time to Earn My Escape Chapter 12

Ava’s college admission offer was rescinded, and her social circles cut her off completely.

Even the friends who had once been close to her piled on, spreading stories everywhere about how she had mocked me.

Ava was used to a life of luxury. Once she had no money, she could not even afford a full meal. To her, that kind of life was no different from being thrown into hell.

She called the friends who had once surrounded her, but not one of them helped her.

Ava was furious enough to go mad, but there was nothing she could do.

Poverty was not even the most terrifying part.

What Ava could not bear most was that people used to flatter her wherever she went, but now, whenever she stepped outside, they pointed at her and whispered that she was the daughter of human traffickers.

Ava hid from place to place like a sewer rat.

Once her parents were released from prison, that greedy couple and Ava would go on tormenting one another.

Adrian kept watching them and made sure not a single day was easy for them.

But even so, Ivy Lane could never come back.

The Whitmore family arranged a grand funeral for Ivy and posthumously changed her name to Ivy Whitmore.

After listening to the System’s summary, I let out a deep sigh.

Although the System had judged my Unfinished-Wish Commission complete, I did not truly feel that I had accomplished it.

The original Ivy Lane had wanted nothing more than to go home.

But even when I left that world, the Whitmores had never truly treated me as family.

They had never investigated how much Ivy had suffered while she was with the traffickers.

If they had cared even a little, they would have found out that during the ten years after she was kidnapped, Ivy had lived every day in agony, surviving only because she believed she would one day go home.

If they had truly felt guilty toward Ivy, they would have brought her home the moment the police found her, without wasting a single second.

Ivy had been so thin that even I felt heartbroken whenever I looked in the mirror.

Yet after reuniting with her, her own blood relatives had never thought to arrange a medical checkup.

Adrian had spent three years with his long-lost biological sister and still accepted her care as if he deserved it.

Even after learning the truth, the Whitmores seemed heartbroken and furious.

But in reality, most of that anger came from realizing they had been fooled by a family of traffickers, not from the fact that they had lost their own daughter.

The System asked whether I was satisfied with the final settlement of the mission.

After thinking for a moment, I replied, “No.”
