He Drew $9 For Our Wedding. Another Man Offered a Million Chapter 09

I held Mrs. Sterling’s gaze for one second.

It was almost theatrical.

I had begged her to save my father.

She just sipped her wine-calm, rich, cruel.

Now she wore no designer clothes.

She watched her employees leave.

Sterling Group was about to change names-just another step in Julian’s expansion!

She saw me. Her mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

She knew begging wouldn’t work now.

I didn’t humiliate her. I didn’t have their cruelty.

What I wanted now-

When Finn and Blair come out, they won’t be untouchable heirs anymore.

They took a life.

A simple “sorry” shouldn’t erase that.

It took me five years to settle this hatred.

These five years, Julian stayed patient. Never pushed.

I thought-in a novel, as the heroine, I’d accept him. Marry him. Have children.

He would respect me. I’d be happy.

But every time I thought about it, I saw Blair’s lottery sticks.

No matter how I denied it, they left a shadow.

The first thing they took from me was my ability to love.

So when five years were up, I put my resignation on Julian’s desk.

He smiled, “I knew you’d leave.”

“But I think you’ll want this more.’

He handed me a letter of recommendation-a research institute in Germany.

Room to study. Maybe even a PhD.

He raised his hand, “Don’t say thank you. You know that’s not what I want.”

“But more than that-I want you to be free. Happy.”

“You weren’t like this before. Confident. Bright. Kind. Never ashamed.”

“I hope you find her again.”

I smiled, “I will.”

Time moved fast in Germany.

My colleagues were warm and lively.

Away from familiar faces and old places, I finally forgot the sting of the draws.

I opened a small restaurant for my mother.

She was so busy I barely saw her.

But it was good. We were both moving forward.

One day, I found cheap cigarette butts downstairs.

All burned short.

Finn had come. He smoked until he coughed-but he never came up.

I didn’t want to see him.

His life, good or bad, had nothing to do with me.

Later, I heard the gossip.

“Who would’ve thought two wealthy families would fall so fast?”

“heard Finn and Blair tried to start a business after prison.”

“But they had criminal records. No one would hire them. They ended up selling on the street.”

“They saved up a month’s rent. Then Finn spent it all going to Germany.”

“Blair threw a fit. He just sat there with his limp leg and stayed quiet.”

“Oh, and in prison-he broke one hand and one leg on purpose. Said he wanted to pay for his sins”

The person kept glancing at me.

I lowered my eyes and walked away calmly.

Now I can do what I love.

Buy what I want. No one draws sticks for me.

It feels good.

I looked down at my phone and texted Julian:

[Wait for me. When I’m back, we can try.]
