He Deleted My Number After 972 Messages of Love Chapter 05

Nothing was harder than running into Jesse nonstop at school, and worst of all, I still had to be assigned as his desk partner.

Shortly after I walked into the classroom, Jesse and his group arrived too.

Spotting him approaching out of the corner of my eye, I bowed my head, stood up, and slid my chair inward to make room for him to slide into his seat.

Jesse stepped sideways into the seat, and I sat back down. We never made eye contact even once the whole time.

Chloe wandered over and planted one hand flat on top of my desk.

“Jesse, we’re switching seats next week,” she said. “Can we take that third-row window spot together?”

Jesse tapped his pen idly against the desktop. He replied with total indifference, “Sure.”

Chloe patted my shoulder with a dramatic sigh.

“Sadie, I’ve got some unpleasant news I feel bad telling you. I just found out everyone in class has already locked in their desk partners. Since we have an odd number of students… that means you’re gonna be sitting alone for the next two months.”

The steady tapping of his pen suddenly stopped short.

I kept my head down correcting my wrong answers and muttered softly, “It doesn’t bother me.”

It was only a moment after Chloe returned to her seat that Jesse suddenly threw open the window beside him.

Luke, the guy sitting right behind us, yelped as he bit into his breakfast sandwich.

“Hey, what are you doing, Jesse? You’ve blown my breakfast sandwich completely cold.”

Jesse stared forward with his eyes half-lidded, looking drained. “It’s too stuffy inside the room.”
