are inside. Your professional history has been transferred

to the new name. With your engineering background, you’ll

have no problem taking on projects in another country.”

I opened the envelope and checked every item.

Then he handed me a new phone.

“Don’t take any of your current electronics with you, and don’t bring any personal belongings the Moretti family might

recognize. The new SIM card is already installed.”

The price had been astronomical.

But in this world, enough money could open any door.

“If you want to change your mind, there’s still time,” he said.

I glanced down at my old phone.

Bianca’s new video was playing.

routes, the darkest skies. Curled in his arms, I’d talked with

him about where the stars would be most beautiful.
