He Chose Her, But I Inherited His Empire Chapter 21

He Chose Her, But I Inherited His Empire Chapter 21

My grades had always been mediocre.

For ten years, I had spent every day figuring out where my next meal was coming from and wondering how Blair would get me punished next.

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to study; I just never had the

energy.

My mother never made demands about my grades. She only wanted me to sleep well and be happy.

Later, I told her I wanted to apply to a good university and study engineering.

It was proof that I could survive without my last name.

At the end of the term, I got the best grades of my life.

My mother cooked my favorite dinner and bought a cake.

Then she took a picture of my report card and posted it on social media.

[My daughter is amazing.]

My father liked the post from the official account of one of his legitimate businesses.

Two years later, when my college entrance exam results came out, I cried.

I got a score I had never dared to dream of, along with an acceptance letter from a top engineering school and an offer for a paid internship.

Two years earlier, I had been curled up in that tiny room next to the garage, with no idea what the next day would bring.

Now I had a real home, a mother who loved me, and skills that allowed me to earn my own money.

For the first time, my future was clear.

My mother posted my acceptance letter on social media,

too.

The comments were full of congratulations.

My father liked that post, too, from the same official

account.

The next day, my mother and I received word that he was

dead.
