He Chose Her, But I Inherited His Empire Chapter 10

There wasn’t a trace of warmth in my mother’s voice.

Only then did my father seem to snap back to reality.

“Helena, you’ve misunderstood. Blair is a child I brought home from an orphanage.”

“Adopted?”

My mother gave Blair a dismissive glance.

“You’re certainly attentive to other people’s children. What about your own daughter?

“I’ve been gone for ten years, and in that time you withdrew her protection and made her live next to the garage?

“And what are that crest and those banners outside for?

“Today is Genevieve’s birthday, too. Why is everyone celebrating only Blair?”

My father was visibly flustered.

He was the head of the Ricci family.

Outside this room, a dark look from him was enough to

make people hold their breath.

But with my mother standing here, he didn’t seem to know what to do with his hands.

“I’m sorry. Don’t be angry. I’ll have Genevieve moved back to her old room immediately.”

He turned and ordered the butler, “Go now. Move Genevieve’s things back into the main house.”

The butler hesitated.

“What about Miss Blair’s things?”

“There are other guest rooms on the estate.”

“Dad-”

Blair’s eyes reddened.

My father didn’t look at her.

All his attention was on my mother.

“Helena, is that enough?”

My mother didn’t answer. She just turned back to me.

In that moment, I finally knew she was real.

The tears I’d held back for a decade finally fell.

“Mom, I don’t want to live here. Can you take me with

you?”

My mother paused, then gently touched the bandage on my forehead.

“Yes.

“As soon as you’re well enough to get out of bed, Mommy

will take you away.”
