He Came Back With Money After Everything Was Gone Chapter 08

He Came Back With Money After Everything Was Gone Chapter 08

I checked into a budget inn.

Over the next few days, I was busy handling the remaining bankruptcy proceedings for Hale Group.

Nathan did not appear again.

Ethan did call me several times, but I didn’t answer.

On the third afternoon, I left the law office and prepared to go cancel my father’s bank account.

Just as I reached the intersection, a car stopped in front of me.

The window rolled down, revealing Nathan’s haggard face.

His chin was covered in stubble.

His eyes were bloodshot.

“Get in.”

His voice was terribly hoarse.

I ignored him and kept walking.

Nathan opened the door, strode after me, and blocked my way.

“I said get in.”

His tone carried a trace of barely controlled rage.

“Move.”

Nathan did not move.

Suddenly, he turned and opened the back door.

Inside the car, Chloe curled up on the seat.

Her face was pale, her hair messy.

When she saw me, she lunged toward me.

“Miss Hale, please help me beg Mr. Reed.”

“He froze my cards, took back the apartment, and had me blacklisted across the industry.”

She cried messily.

“I really know I was wrong. I’ll never appear in front of you again.”

I looked at her coldly.

Nathan stood beside us, his gaze fixed on me.

“You hate her, don’t you?” he said. “I brought her here. You can deal with her however you want

“If it makes you happy, I’ll make her kneel and apologize to you right now.”

I looked at him and suddenly found it ridiculous.

“Nathan Reed, do you think that as long as you punish her, the problem between us is solved?”

Nathan froze.

“Isn’t it?” he said anxiously. “It was all because of her that I…”

“It wasn’t because of her.”

I cut him off.

“It was because of you.”

I pointed at Chloe.

“Chloe River didn’t make you hurt me.”

“You had wanted to break me into an obedient Mrs. Reed for a long time.”

“She only happened to give you an excuse.”

“She was just a tool you used to prove your own charm.”

“You enjoyed her flattery, and you enjoyed my patience.”

“You’re pushing her into a corner now not to avenge me, but to prove to me that you still control everything.”

Nathan’s face went pale.

it seemed I had stabbed into the deepest, most hidden corner of his heart.

“I didn’t…”

He tried to defend himself.

“Whether you did or not doesn’t matter.”

I walked around him and continued forward.

Nathan suddenly rushed up and grabbed my bag.

“You sold everything, emptied your accounts, and closed your cards. Where the hell are you going?”

He held my bag strap tightly.

I stopped.

“Nathan Reed, there’s no point holding on to my documents.”

“I’ve already destroyed everything that could prove I’m Mrs. Reed.”

Nathan froze.

“What do you mean?”

“I burned the marriage certificate. The divorce papers have already been sent to your office by my

lawyer.”

“I sold the jewelry you gave me.”

“I threw the key to the Reed ancestral home into the sewer.”

I watched his expression collapse little by little.

“In this world, there are no traces left of Vivian Hale being Nathan Reed’s wife.”

Nathan’s hand loosened abruptly.

He backed up two steps and stared at me in disbelief.

“You… you actually…”

Suddenly, he clutched his stomach and bent over in pain.

His gastric issues had flared up.

In the past, whenever he frowned, I would immediately find antacids and hand them to him.

Now, I only watched calmly as cold sweat broke out from the pain.

“Nathan Reed, stop acting.”

I turned and left without looking back.
