He Built A Garden For Her Flowers But Only To Help His Secret Love Win A Prize Chapter 01

Everyone knew that the flower seeds Charles and I planted in the garden of the hillside villa were protected by my parents at the cost of their lives. They were everything to me.

Back then, Charles Gordon spent tens of millions to get a constant temperature system and special soil imported from abroad just to keep me happy, so I could grow the seeds.

We turned an entire villa into a dedicated space for my flowers instead of living in it. That was how Charles formally proposed to me.

People outside laughed at me, saying I was just like my parents, completely obsessed with flowers, that I’d truly inherited their legacy, and that Charles wasn’t even as important as my stupid flowers.

But everyone agreed that Charles’ love for me was the best any woman could ask for.

So I’d always believed Charles loved me—that he was the person who loved me most in this world after my parents died.

That was until the night I decided to head back to the hillside villa unexpectedly. I found a couple standing right in the middle of my sea of blooming flowers.

“Charles, this… this is absolutely stunning! I’m definitely going to win a prize at the International Flower Show!”

Charles pulled her into his arms. “If I hadn’t let her keep growing this sea of flowers without suspecting a thing, how would I have gotten it for you? Do you like it? That’s all that matters.”

So the tens of millions weren’t spent for me. The marriage was just a trap.

“Charles, but if Savannah finds out she’ll definitely be furious. She was going to compete in the show too, you know—what about me and Savannah…”

Charles cut her off. “Don’t worry about that. Just focus on preparing your flowers for the 15th of this month. Iris, I just want to see you shine where you deserve to be.” He kissed the top of her head, looking at her with such tender affection. “I’ll handle everything else. Don’t worry, I’ll never let her become a stumbling block for you. She’ll never stand in your way.”

I stood behind the column, watching the silhouettes of the two people in the flowers quietly. She must have been beautiful—her form-fitting dark green dress accentuated every curve of her body perfectly.

The pain hit me exactly the same way it did eight years ago, when I watched my parents burn to death in that fire.

My mind disconnected from my body, and their words echoed over and over again in my head. I stumbled out of the villa, and couldn’t hold it in anymore—I collapsed by the side of the road, gagging and vomiting nonstop.

My eyes burned red. I couldn’t even breathe properly, so I gripped the shirt over my chest, trying to ease the agony crushing me.

In my whole world, the only two things that mattered were Charles and the flower seeds my parents left me.

Losing either of them would have been devastating beyond belief.

I should have stormed out there right then and confronted both of them. But I was completely drained.

I could accept betrayal from anyone… But why Charles?

I didn’t even have the courage to confront him.

He was the boy who was born in the same delivery room as me, delivered by the same doctor, who’d been by my side my entire life since we were kids.

Why did it have to be him!!

I pulled a crumpled note out of my pocket—the one I always carried with me—and stared at the faded ink.

My tears soaked through the paper.

Agony wracked my entire body, like it was going to consume me whole.

In a fit of rage and despair, I swallowed the note. It felt like I was swallowing the bitter fruit of loving Charles.

Tears kept pouring from my eyes, but when I dialed the number I’d saved, my voice was completely steady. “I’ll give you what you want. I just need you to do one thing for me. Deal?”

The person on the other end agreed without hesitation.
