He Brought Me Home, But Never Made Me Family Chapter 08

Adrian panicked.

His phone dropped into the sand with a dull thud.

Isla stopped sipping her coconut water.

“What’s wrong, Adrian? Trouble at the company?”

Adrian stared blankly ahead and did not answer.

He picked up the phone and immediately dialed Willa.

One ring.

Two rings.

Like before, the call cut off after the fifth ring.

But this time, he did not hear Willa’s voice.

Just the cold system message.

“The number you are calling is unavailable.”

He tried several more times.

None went through.

That was when it hit him.

Willa had blocked him.

He snatched Isla’s phone to try calling from there.

After entering the number, he saw the contact name.

“The Fake.”

Shock filled his eyes as he shoved the screen toward her.

“What the hell is this?”

Isla’s eyes reddened.

Her voice hardened.

“It means exactly what it says. I hate her. She’s nothing but…”

Adrian smashed the phone at her feet.

Sand scattered into the coconut water, clouding it instantly

“You have no right to cather that. Change it now. Don’t test me.”

Isla stared at him in disbelief.

“What are you doing, Adrian?”

Adrian ignored her.

He picked up the phone and called his assistant, ordering him to contact Willa.

Isla cried harder beside him.’

He waited a long time.

The assistant finally called back.

“What’s going on?”

The assistant sighed softly.

“Mr. Whitmore, Willa said to stop bothering her life from now on.”

At that moment, Adrian knew Willa was fine.

She had simply left.

She had walked away from this family he had only reunited with after more than ten years, the family he had truly spent only three years with.

His hands would not stop shaking.

Panic gripped him like he had truly lost something precious.

“We’re going back. Pack everything. We leave now.”

Isla grabbed him.

“Go back now? But the trip isn’t over. You promised to do all those things with me.

Adrian’s stare hardened.

“We can finish the trip anytime. I have something more important right now.’

Isla glared at him with red eyes, her voice trembling.

“All for her? You let huge business deals fall through before and stayed with me. Now you’re abandoning me

for her?”

“I’m not going back. If she wants to leave, let her. Where else can she go without the Whitmore name?”

“Who knows if she’s just playing games, waiting for you to chase after her?”

“She’s your sister, but so am I. You lived fine without her all those years. Good riddance. No one will fight

me for this family anymore.”

Adrian had never seen Isla act so spoiled and out of control.

He raised his hand and slapped her.

“Enough. Listen to yourself.”

“If she had always been here, there never would have been room for you. You don’t get to compare yourself to her.”

Isla held her face, staring in shock at the man who had always spoiled her unconditionally.

She screamed, breaking down.

“You hit me for her? You weren’t like this before. If I knew this would happen, I never should have stayed.”

She turned and ran toward the ocean.

But Adrian did not chase after her in a panic like before.

He just watched her coldly.

“If you’re not going back, stay here by yourself. Whatever happens to you from now on has nothing to do

with me.”

Isla’s foot stopped right before stepping into the water.

A moment later, Adrian seemed to remember something and folowed.

“Give me the locket my mother left behind.”

“That belongs to Willa. It’s time to return it.”
