He Brought His Mistress, I Brought My Lawyers Chapter 20

A second before Sloane’s eyes rolled back, the hand around her throat finally loosened.

She collapsed to the floor like a beached fish, clutching her neck and coughing violently, gulping down cold air. Her body trembled uncontrollably from fear. Tears and saliva streamed down her face, leaving her wretched.

For that one instant, she had truly believed Ethan would kill her.

Ethan lowered his eyes, looking at her as if she were trash. From his assistant, who had followed him in, he took a file and threw it at her face.

The edge of the paper sliced her cheek.

“Did you send these to Avery?”

When Sloane’s gaze fell on the printed emails, her pupils contracted. The sending times and IP addresses were all there. The evidence was irrefutable.

She scrambled backward until her back hit the cold wall, leaving her nowhere to go. Trembling, she denied it in a broken voice.

“It wasn’t me… I didn’t send them…”

Ethan crouched in front of her, his face devoid of warmth.

He slowly took a delicate cigar cutter from his pocket and played with it between his fingers, the cold metal reflecting in his dark eyes. He curled his lips, but there was no warmth in the smile.

“I already confirmed it before I came,” he said, his voice low and calm, more terrifying than any roar. “So whether you admit it or not makes no difference.”

With a click, the blade slid out, sharp and cold.

Remembering the spot where the champagne bottle had cut Avery’s temple, Ethan used the tip of the blade to trace lightly over the same smooth area on Sloane’s skin. The icy touch made every hair on her body stand on end.

“Didn’t I warn you?” His voice dropped to a devil’s whisper. “That night was an accident. I was drugged. Why did you insist on shoving it in Avery’s face?”

Sloane curled into the corner, hugging her knees, tears covering her face as her body shook like a leaf.

She finally realized Ethan knew everything.

“Ethan…” She cried so hard she could barely breathe. “You can’t do this to me… Don’t forget, my husband… he died saving your life!”

Ethan’s fingers, which had been tracing a line on Sloane’s face, slowly stopped.
