He Asked Me To Be His Mistress So I Left Him For Good Chapter 03

When I woke up, it was already night. I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV needle in the back of my hand.

The doctor said, “You were too emotionally overwhelmed. Try to stay calm and get some proper rest.”

I said, “Okay.”

As soon as I finished speaking, my phone rang.

It was Elliot. I hesitated again and again, but I still answered.

“Scarlett’s gown got dirty. Go get the Starlit Night gown I had custom-made for you and bring it here. I’ll have Scarlett change into it.”

So her name was Scarlett. I repeated it silently in my heart.

The Starlit Night gown was the gown Elliot had asked a designer to make especially for me. I was supposed to wear it at the party on our wedding night.

Before, he would not even let anyone touch it. He said that if anyone else touched it, it would taint our love.

Now, with one careless sentence, he was asking me to give it to someone else.

Honestly, it did not matter anymore.

It was just that…

“Elliot, I’m on an IV right now.”

“There’s nothing wrong with you. Why would you need an IV? I’m warning you, don’t throw a tantrum at a time like this, or I’ll make you regret it.”

Fine. I would do this one last thing for him, as repayment for the way he had once saved me.

Before the IV was even finished, I asked the nurse to remove the needle. Then I stepped into the storm once again, called an Uber, went home to pick up the gown, and rushed to deliver it to him without stopping.

Elliot said, “Scarlett is waiting for you at the entrance. She wants to thank you. Be sensible.”

I said, “Okay,” and hung up.

But the woman named Scarlett did not thank me.

She slapped me.

Caught completely off guard, I was struck so hard that I was stunned. I staggered half a turn in place, and the gown fell to the ground.

Scarlett immediately burst into aggrieved tears. “If you didn’t want to bring it, you could have just said so. Why would you ruin the gown?”

I was too straightforward to understand what she was playing at.

But Elliot seemed to understand very well. He immediately walked out of the hotel.

Scarlett questioned him at once. “Elliot, is this what you meant when you said she was obedient and sensible and wouldn’t make things hard for me?”

Elliot glanced at the gown on the ground and thought he understood everything.

Then another slap landed on my face. “Looks like I’ve spoiled you rotten. Apologize to Scarlett right now.”

I was so furious that I laughed. “Elliot, aren’t you being a little too quick to judge? Do you know where the handprint on the left side of my face came from?”

Scarlett did not even bother hiding it. She tugged at Elliot’s sleeve and said, “I hit her. Elliot, you’re not going to blame me, are you? I only lost control because I was angry that she threw the gown on the ground.”

“You know I’ve always had a bad temper.”

Elliot smoothly wrapped an arm around her waist. “I don’t blame you. You were right to hit her.”

Scarlett gave me a smug smile.

I laughed too, until tears came out. I really was stupid.

But no matter how stupid I was, they only had three more days to humiliate me. Once those three days were over, I would disappear from their world forever.

Elliot, I hope you do not end up like the man my mother had an affair with.

Eighteen years from now, having to post your own confession online.
