Hard to Endure Chapter 11

Hard to Endure Chapter 11

It wasn’t until that moment that Knox seemed to understand. All the years he’d spent torturing himself had

been for nothing.

When had he started falling for Summer? Later, after they were married, Summer asked him that too. But he

didn’t dare answer. He looked away and dodged the question.

If he told her the truth, that from the day he first saw her, he’d never wanted to let her go, he was afraid it

would scare her.

When Summer confessed to him, a selfish part of him wondered whether he could simply say yes. Then he could be with her always, and they’d never have to be apart.

But he couldn’t be that selfish. Summer was his sister. She was young, and she couldn’t tell the difference between love and needing someone. He’d thought an arranged marriage would finally make her understand.

What he never expected was for Summer to drug him and do whatever she wanted with him.

He didn’t dare admit it, but deep down, part of him had been secretly glad, and that made him disgusted with

himself.

He’d gone cold because he hated himself for having those feelings about the girl he’d grown up calling his

sister. He’d run because he’d crossed the line and slept with her.

In his three years overseas, he’d flown home in secret many times. For every holiday and every anniversary,

he’d had a gift ready and asked Arthur to give it to Summer.

He knew she’d visit her parents’ grave on the anniversary of their deaths, so he always went before dawn.

He’d watch her from a distance and wait until she left.

Knox also knew Summer was dating Adrian. He watched their videos over and over, and he had someone

look into Adrian.

He told himself that as long as Summer didn’t get hurt, he should let her go. So he stayed out of it. But every

time he watched one of their couples videos, his chest ached.

He’d built his own trap, and he had no one to blame but himself.

Then Summer and Adrian broke up. Summer FaceTimed him, and he didn’t dare pick up. She blocked him,

and he lost control and flew home, even though he knew it was a trap she’d set for him.

He’d thought he was the only one lost in a forbidden obsession. He’d never imagined Summer was the same,

just as fevered and just as obsessed.
