Goodbye, My Beloved Alpha Chapter 01

Goodbye, My Beloved Alpha Chapter 01

At the banquet celebrating my third anniversary with my fated mate, Alpha Silas, the pack presented him with a gift, a fox shifter that looked exactly like his first love.

I shattered the composure I’d kept for years. I smashed my glass on the floor, ruining the entire celebration.

Then I walked out on the Howling Wind pack.

Everyone said Luna Clara, an orphan with no place to call home, wouldn’t last three days before crawling back in shame.

Silas didn’t seem to care. “A lone wolf leaving Howling Wind? Where would she even go?”

But three days passed. Then a week. Whispers began that I must be dead.

That’s when Silas first tried to reach me through our mind-link.

He found nothing.

Later, at an art exhibition hosted by the Alpha King, a portrait in profile made Silas freeze.

He made a high offer to buy it.

The Alpha King offered an apologetic smile.

“I’m afraid that’s my mate. It’s the best portrait I’ve ever done of her. Not for sale.”

The Pack Hall.

On Alpha Silas’s arm, I entered the grand hall wearing my Luna gown, studded with 108 moonstones.

After the obligatory congratulations, Silas wordlessly let go of my hand.

Every eye in the room followed him.

I was left standing alone in a corner.

Nobles and elites lined up to present their gifts.

He gave a slight nod, signaling Beta Owen to log each gift.

Then, a Gamma noble stepped forward, presenting a young, beautiful blonde fox shifter to Silas.

The usual cold mask on Silas’s face cracked.

He stared at her face.

His always-calm, unreadable eyes grew wet.

Mocking glances drifted my way.

“Bringing a woman like that in front of their Luna? Bold.”

Silas smiled at the gift-giver, all emotion wiped from his face once more.

The man grinned, his tone respectful, but his eyes held pure contempt when they flicked to me.

“The Luna is gracious. I’m sure she doesn’t mind.”

My fists clenched.

It wasn’t that I didn’t mind. They just knew I wouldn’t dare to object.

What right did a lone wolf Omega, adopted by Howling Wind, have to say ‘no’ to her Alpha?

Silas twisted the wedding band on his finger.

His voice was calm, but it couldn’t hide his pleasure.

“Since Clara doesn’t mind, have her shown to a guest suite to get settled—”

He didn’t get to finish.

I was beside him by then.

I looked at the face. An eighty percent match to his Olivia.

Something tore open in my chest. Cold air rushed into the hollow cavity.

I felt my wolf surging, fighting for control.

Grandmother’s voice in my head,“Keep the peace. Uphold the dignity of Howling Wind’s Luna”,suddenly felt very far away.

I wasn’t thinking anymore.

The champagne tower crashed down. Those pretty glasses were so fragile.

Shards and splashing alcohol went everywhere.

I shifted, baring my teeth.

A howl ripped from me, growing louder until some pack members staggered back, dizzy from the Luna’s power rolling off me.

“Luna Clara’s lost it!” someone yelled.

Silas’s wolf lunged, slamming me to the floor.

The impact brought me back to myself.

A tall shadow loomed over me.

I looked up at Silas’s face. He was calm again.

He had one arm around the fox shifter’s waist, looking down at me.

“Clara, was that really necessary?”

“If you didn’t want her near me, I’d have placed her elsewhere. You know I promised Grandmother I’d never let anyone replace you.”

The fox shifter leaned into Silas’s shoulder, her voice sweet.

“Luna Clara… a powerful Alpha like Silas always has women around. I’m just a little gift. I could never threaten your place.”

I stared at him for a long moment.

Then I stood up quietly, took off my ring, and held it out to him.

“Here. Take it back.”

He raised an eyebrow, then took it and casually tucked it into the fox shifter’s hand.

“Yours now. Millions of dollars, and Luna Clara just throws it away.”

He scoffed, then turned to Owen. “Get Sophia. Have her teach the Luna some manners. I won’t see this behavior again.”

He pulled off his own ring and dropped it on the floor.

It clattered in a clumsy circle before stopping at my feet.

“Then no rings. Neither of us keeps one.”
