Fiancé?Sorry, My Memory Was Wiped Chapter 08

Fake.

It had all been fake.

Evelyn’s tear-streaked helplessness was fake.

The PTSD that had softened him again and again was fake.

The excuse he’d used every time he took her side.

Fake.

Even the news that Shade had died out there…

That had been a lie they carefully manufactured.

These hands of his had been stained with blood.

Those bloodstained hands had decided who lived and who died countless times.

He’d always believed he was calm.

Always in control.

Yet one woman had played him like a puppet.

Worse, he’d done the unthinkable.

With his own suspicion and punishment, he’d driven the woman who’d fought beside him for ten

years to the point of no return.

The woman who’d become part of his flesh and blood.

Rage and bone-deep regret burned through the last of his reason.

A lethal chill radiated off him.

He kicked the bedroom door open.

The cheerful atmosphere inside died instantly.

Marcus stood in the doorway like something straight out of hell.

The smug smile on Evelyn’s face froze.

Then twisted into pure terror.

All the color drained from her face.

Dana’s hand jerked.

The jewelry box Evelyn had just given her hit the floor.

Jewels scattered everywhere.

Dana didn’t even dare meet Marcus’s eyes.

Like a terrified rat, she scrambled out of the room without looking back.

Within seconds, only Evelyn remained.

She sat frozen on the couch.

Forcing herself to stay calm, she forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.

Then she tried to stand and approach him.

“Marc, let me explain…”

“Shut up!”

Marcus crossed the room in a few strides.

His hand clamped around Evelyn’s slender throat like a vise.

Then he slammed her against the cold wall.

The impact made her vision go black.

She couldn’t breathe.

Marcus towered over her.

His eyes were bloodshot.

Something almost feral churned inside them.

Pure destruction.

“The PTSD was fake?”

“You made up the story about Shade being dead?”

“From the moment you came near me…”

“Every setup after that…”

“You planned all of it?”

Every word came out edged with violence.

The murder in his eyes made Evelyn’s entire body go limp.

Her teeth chattered uncontrollably.

She couldn’t even force out a complete sentence.
