Everyone Knew But Me The Day My Boyfriend Married His Other Girlfriend Chapter 10

The officer showed Julian Carter the evidence and the arrest warrants.

Julian Carter stared at Vanessa Moore—bruised, disheveled, ruined—and shook with rage.

He’d been lied to.

All this time, Vanessa Moore was the liar.

Paula really was dead. Vanessa Moore and Claire Sullivan killed her.

And then they’d stolen her body and pinned the whole thing on Sienna.

When Sienna tried to tell him the truth, he didn’t believe her.

How alone she must’ve felt.

He was a monster. He’d failed her.

Vanessa Moore and Claire Sullivan were led out in cuffs.

As Claire Sullivan passed me, her mascara was running down her face.

“Sienna. I’m sorry.”

“You treated me like a real friend. But I was always jealous of you. I let my pride get in the way. I helped them hurt you. I helped them hurt your mom. I’m so sorry.”

I watched them get taken away without a word.

Sorry doesn’t bring my mother back.

Claire was sorry because she’d finally been caught.

Claire Sullivan. You were never my friend.

The sirens faded into the distance.

I looked around the wreckage of the wedding hall and turned to leave.

The police had found my mom’s body.

I needed to bring her home.

But before I could leave, several people stepped into my path.

Julian stood at the front.

His eyes were full of regret as he dropped to one knee in front of me.

“I’m sorry, Sienna. I was blind. I hurt you.”

“You’re going to get Aunt Paula now, right? Let me come with you.”

“All these years, she was like a mother to me too. Let me come with you to bring her home.”

His sister wiped her eyes and pleaded with me.

“Don’t blame Julian. That woman fooled everyone.”

“Sienna, people make mistakes. Julian knows he was wrong.”

“Give him another chance. He’ll spend the rest of his life making it up to you.”

The others chimed in.

“Sienna, we’re sorry.”

“We didn’t know Vanessa was like that. She fooled us too. Can you forgive us?”

“You and Julian went through twelve years together. Don’t throw it all away. Give him another chance. We all want to see you two happy.”

“Yeah. Get married. We can all hang out again like we used to.”

I looked at them. At every familiar face.

The man I loved for twelve years had cheated on me for eight.

My best friend. His sister. People I’d helped. People I’d trusted.

They all knew. They all kept it from me.

The moment Julian Carter betrayed me, the moment they decided to lie, they stopped being people I owed anything to.

“Move.”

Silence fell.

They parted like the Red Sea.

Creating a path.

I walked through it without looking back.

I brought my mother’s remains back to our hometown in the south.

The old house was rundown. But I cleaned it up. Made it feel alive again.

I quit my job in the city. Got a teaching position at a local elementary school.

I stayed because this land still smelled like my mom.

Because here, I could still feel her close.

Years later, I heard news about Julian Carter through mutual acquaintances.

A failed funding round. His company went under. Bankrupt.

He sold everything he owned—still couldn’t fill the hole.

The man who had once been surrounded by friends suddenly found himself alone.

Those same friends disappeared.

His so-called brothers disappeared.

Even his sister kept her distance.

No one would lend him a dime.

In the end, Julian survived by collecting scrap metal and working odd jobs to repay his debts.

Maybe, one day, he’d pay it all off.

Vanessa Moore got twenty years. Claire Sullivan got fifteen.

By the time they walked free, they would be approaching retirement age.

I snapped back to the present.

A few little troublemakers in my class had been sneaking snacks during my lesson.

I raised an eyebrow.

The children immediately froze.

I walked over and confiscated the chips and candy.

“See me in my office after class.”

A chorus of groans filled the room.

For the first time in a very long time—

I smiled.

The End
