Don, I Left as You Wished Chapter 03

Don, I Left as You Wished Chapter 03

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed.

Damiano saw me wake up. He immediately leaned over with concern.

“Celeste, thank God. You’re finally awake.”

Seeing my eerie silence, he lowered his head guiltily.

“The photos… it was an accident. I was set up by my rivals, and I’m sorry.”

“But don’t worry, I had them all deleted. Don’t overthink it, I won’t hold it against you.”

I stared at him coldly. My heart was as dead as ashes.

He was the one who pulled the trigger. Yet here he was, playing the forgiving saint.

If he hadn’t stepped in to save me when Carlo’s bullying was at its worst, I would have never fallen for him.

Before I could say a word, his phone rang.

Whoever was on the line made his tone instantly soften. He left without a backward glance.

Shortly after he left, Carlo walked in.

He sneered at my pathetic state.

“Want to know where Damiano is heading? Diana’s jet lag has been brutal since she got back. He’s going to tuck her in. No one’s protecting you anymore, so give it up.”

My fists clenched under the sheets.

Carlo’s mother used to say Diana Ricci resembled her. That made Carlo obey Diana’s every whim since childhood.

No matter how hard I tried to please Carlo over the years, I could never compete with a single casual word from Diana.

A bitter smile touched my lips.

I finally realized that neither Carlo nor Damiano ever had a place for me in their hearts.

In the past, I would have begged for his forgiveness.

Now, I merely turned my head away.

“Don’t worry. I won’t bother you anymore.”

A flicker of surprise crossed Carlo’s eyes.

“What’s with the act? Damiano isn’t even here, so who are you playing the victim for?”

He stormed out in a huff.

The injury was severe. I was bedridden for two weeks.

My mother just wired money for the hospital bills. Then she jetted off abroad with my stepfather, never checking on me once.

I was entirely alone on the day I was discharged.

Taking advantage of the empty Messina mansion, I began packing my bags.

By the time I finished, I realized I owned almost nothing of value. Most of my prized possessions were just leftovers Carlo grew tired of and threw my way.

There was no point in keeping them.

The only thing I wanted to take was a handmade bracelet from my late grandmother.

I grew up by her side until she passed away, forcing me back to my mother.

Before she died, she slipped it onto my wrist, praying for my safety and happiness.

But when I opened the jewelry box hidden in my walk-in closet, it was gone.
