Divorce Over a Bow on a Coat Chapter 13

My father stumbled, nearly falling into the corner of the

table.

The comments immediately turned on me again.

“I get that she’s in pain, but she can’t take it out on her father.”

“Exactly. Her dad didn’t do anything wrong. That was scary.”

“I still don’t think she’s a good person. Otherwise, how would she have gotten into a mess like this?”

I just looked at my father.

“Dad, are you so eager to get me out of here because you’re afraid I’ll suffer more, or because you’re afraid of what else I might say?”

I stared straight into his eyes.

My father froze, his gaze flickering away for a long

moment.

But he quickly composed himself, forcing a strained smile.

“What are you talking about, Odessa? I don’t understand.”

“I just feel for you. How could a father not be upset after something like this?”

He reached for my hand again.

“Dad, are you still going to pretend? Even now?”

I was done playing games. I held up another sheet of

paper.

It was the fifth DNA report of the day.

It stated, very clearly, that my father, Robert, and

Walker’s older brother, Arthur, were biological father and

son.
