Cry Harder, Alpha: Your Luna Is The Lycan Queen Now! Chapter 04 A Perfect Match

NARA’S POV

Did I just throw a jab at the ruthless, powerful King?

Oops.

I am certain this is it. This is how I die faster than the core failure.

But the Lycan King barks out a delicious laugh that genuinely lights up his beautiful blue/eyes.

“Perhaps I am hallucinating,” he murmurs, an amused smirk curving his lips. “But if a dying woman can still find the strength to insult a King, I think we are a perfect match.”

The Lycan King has a sense of humour?!

A surprised breath hitches in my throat, almost turning into a laugh. But the small vibration tears the last shred of my rotting core.

The laugh breaks into a violent cough. I choke, gasping for air as a fresh surge of thick black blood spills past my lips.

“S–Silverleaf.” I force out.

The King’s smirk vanishes. His blue eyes snap up, locking onto my husband with absolute murder in his

gaze.

“Silverleaf! Where is it?”

Aiden shrinks back, clutching the small bottle as though it’s a shield.

“Your Majesty, wait! She is pretending! She is just doing this to manipulate you!”

The Lycan King’s patience snaps. A dominant shockwave of pure Alpha aura blasts through the room. cracking the floorboards.

“Bring it to me,” the King roars, “or I will kill you where you stand!”

Aiden whimpers. All of his arrogant pride evaporates. He scrambles forward on his knees and drops the bottle into the King’s hand.

The King immediately tips the bitter liquid past my lips./l swallow it instantly.

A wave of numbing relief crashes over my chest, perfectly sealing away the blinding pain. I go entirely limp in his powerful grip, finally able to breathe.

“Thank you,” I whisper weakly.

Before he can reply, a soft, trembling gasp draws the room’s attention.

Behind Aiden. Jasmine finally understands that no one is looking at her.

The most powerful man on the continent is holding her dying sister like something made of glass, and the whole room has forgotten she exists.

She steps back and trips.

She goes down against the wood of the broken–down door, and a rusted nail drags a red line/across her arm. She could have caught herself. I watch her decide not to.

“Ah! Your Majesty, drop her!” She clutches the cut and squeezes out tears. “It’s her curse, Aiden; she pushed me, I felt her dark magic, she wants me dead!” She looks back at the King, trembling violently. “Please, get away from her! She is a witch! She is cursed with bad luck, and if you hold her, she will infect you too!

And even now, with a king standing over him promising death, Aiden turns his back on Valerian and rushes to her.

“Jasmine, love, don’t move.” He scoops her up. Then he spins around and glares at me with pure hatred. “Look what you did. Get out of his arms. Get down here, kneel in this glass, and apologize to your sister. Now.”

Valerian’s chest goes hard under my cheek. A growl builds in it, and a murderous aura sips into the room.

He is going to open Aiden’s throat in front of the whole pack. I feel it building in him.

I lift my hand. It is small and slick with my own blood. I press it flat against his chest, and I push.

“Don’t.” My voice comes out hollow. Dead. I have nothing left, and I do not want anything left. “You have the wrong woman, Your Majesty. I am no royal spirit. I don’t want a crown. I don’t want revenge on anyone

in this room.”

I look up into that scarred, furious face.

“Put me down. That is all I want now.”

Valerian freezes. His jaw works. He stares into my empty eyes, and I watch him refuse to believe what he finds there.

He does not put me down. He turns to carry me out, and Aiden jumps up and blocks the doorway, Jasmine still whimpering against him.

A smug smile spreads across Aiden’s face. He thinks he is holding a card at last.

“You can’t take her over the border, Your Majesty.” He is proud of himself now. “Pack Law is Pack Law, even for a king. She has my mark, and severing an Alpha’s bond takes thirty days. Drag her past that border before the bond is severed, and the distance will kill her! She’ll be dead in your arms before you reach your palace gates.”

He lifts his chin.

“So I grant severance. Thirty days. She stays right here in this house, where she belongs, until the bond

breaks.” Then lower, just for me, certain I will come crawling back long before then. “Plenty of time to

member your place, Nara.”

Valerian goes very still. When he speaks, his voice is soft, and every wolf in that house hears every word of

it.
“Then I will wait at the border. Thirty days.” His arms tighten around Ine, and his black eyes lift to Aiden, to Jasmine, to every elder cowering in the doorway. “Feed her. Call her healers. Keep her breathing. Because if she dies in this house before those thirty days are done, I will burn it to the ground with every last one of you still inside.”

He sets me on my feet at last, one hand spread at my waist so I do not drop.

“Thirty days,” he says again, only to me this time. “Stay alive.”

Then he walks out, and he takes all the warmth in the room with him.

Thirty days. He should not have wasted his breath.

I have no plans to last that long.
