Claimed By My Cheating Mate’s Rival Alpha Chapter 06

SCARLETT

I could still taste him on my lips when I left the lounge. I headed straight to the hotel, my heart slamming in my ribs and my breaths ragged.

I needed to sit down. I needed to breathe. I needed to not

think about anything else, and not the way Cassian’s lips

tasted when he kissed me.

My legs took me straight to the private room Mason. always reserved out of habit. I didn’t think—I just reached for the handle and pushed the door open.

I froze when I walked in and saw the room was filled with

people.

Mason was at the center, champagne in hand, relaxed and his skin tan from the trip in Maldives. His friends I

recognized were there as well. And the worst part, Celeste was seated right beside him.

My stomach sank.

“Scarlett!” Mason’s face lit up immediately he saw me. He crossed the room and pulled me into a hug before I could speak. His scent wrapped around me and underneath, I caught a whiff of jasmine.

Celeste’s perfume was on my husband’s skin.

“Baby, I’ve been trying to reach you.” He cupped my face, brown eyes wide with fake concern. “My mother told me everything. I’m so sorry. I want to fix this. I swear.”

His friends were watching. And Mason knew they were watching, that’s why he was performing. I would’ve fallen for it, but I saw him for what he was now, as painful as it

“Don’t touch me,” I whispered.

“Scar-”

“You took her to our honeymoon. I saw the photos. You gave her my father’s necklace.”

His smile flickered. “Let’s not do this here. Come sit down. Have a drink. It’s all a misunderstanding.”

I sat down because if I caused a scene, I’d be the one who looked crazy. The next twenty minutes were torture. He kept his arm around me, poured wine I didn’t drink. Told his friends about his “work trip” with Celeste who kept darting glances and fake smiles at me.

It was too much to bear, knowing that my husband had cheated on me with the woman I helped, and made a friend. I couldn’t stop thinkin about the photos Maggie sent. And it time I did, it felt like my heart was repeatedly stabbed with a dagger.

Mason’s phone suddenly rang.

“Pack business. I’ll be right back.” He squeezed my shoulder like I was a pet then left the room.

He walked out, and soon enough, his friends followed, until the room was emptied. It was just me and Celeste.

Her mask immediately came off like a switch.

“You look awful, Scarlett.” Her voice dropped, the

sweetnes in her tone gone. “Those dark circles are really showing. You don’t look like you’ve been getting any sleep.”

I said nothing. I wasn’t going to take the bait. She stood and walked closer to me until she was seated across me on the table.

“Mason is a perfect man.” She touched her collarbone where my necklace sat. “He fought so hard to win it

for me at the auction. He said he wanted me to have

something with history.”

It was my father’s necklace. The one he gave Mason the day we were betrothed. And he gave it to her.

“You know. You decorated your matrimonal bedroom so beautifully,” she teased, her smile widening.

My eyes widened. How did she know what our bedroom

looked like?

She leaned in close, as if telling a secret. “Mason and I make love in that room.” Then she placed her hand on her stomach.

“I probably shouldn’t tell you this.” Her voice dropped to a whisper. “But I’m pregnant.”

My blood immediately went cold and I saw red.

Something inside me that had been restrained finally cracked.

I was on my feet before I knew it. My palm connected with her face so hard the sound cracked through the room like a gunshot.

“You took everything from me!” I hissed. “I gave you everything. I treated you like a sister. And you crawled into my bed, slept with my husband and wore my dead father’s necklace.”

My wolf was enraged. I wanted to tear her apart right

there.

The door suddenly opened and like a finger snapped, Celeste fell to the ground and broke into fake sobs.

Mason walked in, along with his friends.

His eyes went from Celeste, then to me, fury radiating off my skin.

He didn’t ask what happened.

He shoved past me. I hit the ground, my wounded hand catching my fall. The cut tore open and blood smeared across the floor.

“Celeste!” He was on his knees beside her, cradling her face. “Are you okay? What did she do to you?”

“She hit me,” Celeste whimpered. “I just wanted to be friends again.”

Mason turned to me and his eyes were full of cold disgust.

“What the hell is wrong with you, Scarlett?”

I stared at him from the ground.

This was the man who’d held me at my father’s funeral. The man who’d promised me he’d always love me and keep me safe me.

And he was kneeling on the floor holding the woman who destroyed us, looking at me like I was the problem.

“She’s lying.” My voice came out raw. “She’s ”

“Stop!” His voice cracked through the room. “Every time something doesn’t go your way, you turn into this jealous, paranoid-” He stops himself before he says any more harsh words. “Celeste has been nothing but loyal to you.”

I pulled myself off the floor, blood dripping from my wound. I looked at Mason holding Celeste. I looked at the smile I knew she was hiding against his chest.

And something in me went still. I was done.

I straightened my spine the way my father taught me.

“I’m not a fool, Mason. I see all that’s been happening.” My voice came out steady and it surprised even me. “I took her in when she had nothing. I gave her a job, connections, a home. And this is how she repaid me. You even gave her the necklace my father gave you on the day you swore to protect me.”

I looked at her. “You’re not a sweet girl who needed saving. You’re a homewrecker. And everyone in this Pack is going to know exactly what you are.”

Heg mask cracked across her face before she buried it

I turned to Mason.

“You built your empire on my my father’s company, territory and legacy. And you couldn’t even show up for my birthday.”

“Scarlett, that’s-”

“We’re done. I’m divorcing you.”

The words left my mouth and something physical ripped through my chest. Mason eyes widened.

“Scarlett, you can’t—”

“Watch me.”

I walked out.

Every step felt like walking through fire. The heart was begging me to turn around, to go back, to forgive him one more time.

I didn’t turn around.
