Cast Aside by My Mate, Crowned by the Lycan King Chapter 05

Adam had arranged a dreamlike, perfect Luna Coronation for me.

Since I was allergic to pollen but still loved flowers, the entire venue had been decorated with realistic artificial blooms.

I found myself wondering how Adam knew such a personal detail about me, when suddenly a long, echoing wolf howl pierced the air from outside.

One of the Betas came rushing in, reporting that a crazed werewolf had appeared outside. He had already shifted into a massive black wolf and was clawing furiously at the iron fence.

I froze for a moment.

Werewolves only shifted under extreme emotional distress.

Brody hadn’t shifted when he found out who Chelsea really was.

But now? Just seeing my Luna Coronation had sent him spiraling and shift.

Once upon a time, I might’ve believed it meant he cared about me more than I’d thought. But now, I just thought he was pathetic.

He didn’t cherish me when he had the chance. What use was all of this now?

As the ceremony went on, Adam and I exchanged rings, kissed, and marked each other in front of the entire crowd, surrounded by their blessings.

After the Luna Coronation ended, we were being driven to our new

home. I caught sight of a giant black wolf locked in a massive steel cage outside the Lycan Keep.

For a fleeting second, I thought I saw tears in Brody’s eyes.

But all he could do was stay trapped in the cage, watching helplessly through the bars as our car pulled away.

Inside the new house, it was just Adam and me.

I looked at Adam’s impossibly handsome face, feeling my cheeks flush. I couldn’t help but say, “You’re nothing like the rumors.”

He gently began removing the delicate hair ornaments from my head, a faint smile playing on his lips.

“What rumors?”

“That you’re… cruel and ugly. And, well—”

He let out a quiet laugh. “Sterile by birth?”

I flushed with embarrassment, about to offer some awkward comfort, when he suddenly pulled me into his arms.

Those beautiful emerald-green eyes of his looked down at me, soft and filled with emotion.

“Will you have me?” he whispered.

Caught in his gaze, I blushed and gave a shy nod.

The mating night didn’t end until five days later.

On the sixth morning, I dragged my aching body out of bed, only to hear commotion outside.

I opened the window and looked out.

I found Brody standing outside, holding a massive bouquet of roses.

A maid cleaning the hallway told me he’d been waiting outside for five full days and nights.

It had poured heavily twice, and even though he was burning with fever, he still refused to leave—he only had his beta replace the wilted roses with fresh ones.

But instead of being moved, I felt nothing but disgust.

Who was he putting on this show for?

I had a new life now. His grand, self-pitying gestures weren’t redemption—they were an intrusion.

Just as I reached out to pull the curtain closed, a warm body pressed up behind me.

“Hey,” Adam murmured, “what are you looking at?”

He glanced down to find Brody below, and immediately frowned, clicking his tongue.

“Persistent bastard.”

At that moment, Brody must’ve felt our gaze. He looked up.

And the second he saw me, light flickered back into his dull eyes.

But in the next second, he spotted Adam.

Adam flashed him a smug, mocking grin… then pulled me fully into his arms and gave me a long, possessive kiss.

The tenderness on my face was something he had never seen before.

I wrapped my arms around Adam in return, holding him close.

The intimate scene stabbed Brody like a dagger to the heart.

The bouquet slipped from his hands and hit the ground. His eyes widened with desperation as he tried to storm through the gates of the Lycan Keep—but he couldn’t even shout.

He’d gone too long without water. His voice had failed him.

I thought that would be the end of it. I assumed he would finally give up.

But over the next few days, he continued to linger at the gates.

I couldn’t take it anymore. Eventually, I agreed to meet him.

Brody had lost a shocking amount of weight. His face was pale, dark circles carved deep under his eyes. His clothes hung loosely from his now-thin frame.

The moment he saw me; he hurried forward and tugged down his collar to reveal the back of his neck.

The mate mark was gone, replaced by a grotesque scar.

Grinning like a child hoping for praise, he said excitedly,

“Alexis, I had surgery to erase the mark. I’m clean now. We can start over!”

I stared at the grotesque scar on his neck and slowly walked toward him, lifting my hand, fingers hovering just near his face.

Seeing me draw near, Brody smiled.
