His breathing quickened, and his claws extended as he started to wolf – transform.

“You think you’ve won? I’ve trapped your men. I can still kill you –

“Your men?”I clapped my hands. The sound echoed Graymoon Pack wolf guards stood up on both sides of the gorge. Old Hagen blocked the entrance, and Ira and Lane’s deputy blocked the exit.

We outnumbered them.

The Pale Moon Pack warriors stirred uneasily.

“You knew all along? You baited me?”

“Dylan, I know you better than you know yourself. Your problem is you can’t accept defeat.”

I walked towards him.

He held his claws back, afraid of my tricks.”You said you’d get revenge.

Today, it’s still true.” I drew my dagger. Dylan lunged at me, glaws for my throat.

I sidestepped and stabbed him.

He froze, eyes wide in disbelief. I pulled out the dagger.

Blood gushed.

The Pale Moon Pack warriors surrendered.”Ira, handle this. Disarm them and let them go.

“Okay.”I mounted my horse.

“Let’s go to the Starmist Pack.”Kane should be at the Starmist Pack’s main castle.

We traveled through the night. At dawn, we saw the castle. Kane was at the gate.

He patted my shoulder three times.

The Starmist Pack’s Alpha asked,

“Who is this?”Kane said,

“Lara, the Graymoon Pack’s Beta, my right-hand.

“The Alpha’s look changed to respect.”The Graymoon Pack is remarkable.”

He offered his hand. I bowed and took it. The morning breeze blew.

I watched the rising sun, feeling calm.

Dylan wanted revenge, but I showed him it was useless. I knew him better.

“Let’s go in.”

We entered as the sun fully rose, shining on the ridge.
