Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 09

Approved for Her, Rejected for Me Chapter 09

“It’s wolfsbane mixed with a powerful acid!”

“Quick! Get that bottle away from her!”

Sebastian snatches the bottle from Phoebe’s hand, while my father immediately tackles her to the

ground and pins her arms behind her back.

Phoebe completely loses control.

Her screams nearly tear through the entire packhouse.

“Why?! Why does everyone love her?! What about me?!”

“I’m more obedient than she is! I’m more sensible, and I know how to make all of you happy! So

why do you choose her instead of me?”

My mother grabs her by the hair and slaps her hard across the face.

“Because you’re not my daughter.”

“If Amelia hadn’t chosen to keep you, if she hadn’t brought you into this family and given you

everything she had, you wouldn’t even be worthy of standing in her shadow!”

Her words are cruel.

But they’re the truth.

The last bit of hope Phoebe has been clinging to finally shatters.

Then, strangely, she starts laughing.

The laughter grows louder and louder, echoing through the spacious packhouse until it sends chills down my spine.

My father pulls out his phone and immediately calls the Pack Warriors.

By the time they arrive, Adrian has already been rushed to Pack Hospital, where his burns need

immediate treatment.

Not long after, the Pack Elders arrive as well.

As the Warriors and Elders drag Phoebe into the car, she keeps struggling and screaming at me

through the open door.

“You stole everything from me! You’ll pay for this! You’ll get what’s coming to you!”

I find it almost absurd.

I stand up, smooth out my wrinkled clothes, and take one last look at the Starfall Pack where I grew

I feel nothing.

At this point, whether this family exists in my life or not no longer matters.

I take the Pack alliance contract and hurry to Pack Hospital.

Adrian is in the emergency room, receiving treatment.

His injuries are worse than I expected.

Some of the burns are so deep that the tissue underneath is visible.

“Amelia!”

The moment he sees me, his eyes light up.

I simply raise the contract in my hand.

Adrian freezes.

The light in his eyes slowly fades until nothing remains but despair.

“Alpha Adrian, your right hand is injured. Sign with your left.”

“Here’s the pen.”

He takes the pen.

For a long time, he says nothing.

Then he slowly signs his name on the contract with his left hand.

I’m about to leave when he suddenly calls my name.

“Amelia…”

His voice trembles, “You really don’t want me anymore?”

“All those years we had together, all those memories… are you really going to forget them all?”

I admit that Adrian and I have shared countless unforgettable memories, enough to last me a

lifetime.

But the pain he has given me has long since outweighed all those happy moments.

Now, whenever I think of him, the first thing I remember is the pain.

If that’s all that remains, then maybe it’s better to let the sweet memories go with it.

I don’t want love. And I don’t want hate.

“Yes.”

I don’t want to say anything more.

Some wounds can’t be healed simply by waiting for time to pass. The harder you try to patch them

up, the more likely you are to tear them open again, leaving even more blood behind.

“I never want to see any of you again.”

“I’m never going back to Starfall Pack. And tell them they can call me ungrateful, disloyal, whatever they want. I don’t care.”

“I won’t take anything from them ever again, and I want them to stay out of my life.”

“Otherwise, my lawyer will handle it.”

Adrian’s shoulders finally slump.

After a long silence, he lowers his head and gives a small nod.

I hand the signed contract to Grayson.

He puts it away, then takes out his phone to book our flights.

“No need.”

I stop his hand.

Grayson looks at me in confusion.

“I’m leaving the Pack. And I’m leaving Miami.”

“Are you serious?” Grayson asks in surprise.

“Yes. Last night, after I reported to the Alpha that the alliance contract had been signed, I told him I wanted to leave the Pack. He agreed. So I’m not going back with you.”

“But you worked so hard to become the Beta of our Pack and build your own tattoo shop Are you really willing to give all of that up?” he asks.

“I’ll be fine. If I can find my place as a Beta in one Pack, I can find my place somewhere else too. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even become the Alpha of my own Pack someday.”

I smile.

“And my tattoo shop will find a new home somewhere else, too.”

“But…”

“It’s okay. Once I get settled, I’ll reach out to you again.”

“Then where are we going?”

“I don’t know.”

I look out the window and suddenly smile, “I feel like seeing the ocean. Maybe somewhere with a

beach.”

I’ve had enough of Miami, so I leave one more place behind.

And once again, I leave a footprint somewhere in this world.

There will be more.

A hundred. A thousand. Maybe even ten thousand.

The world is huge.

And anywhere can become home.
