I attended the company’s annual gala as one of its shareholders.

I took a glass of champagne from a roaming waiter.

“You’re just an aging woman who’s fallen out of favor-who do you think you’re putting on airs for?

Ethan’s long since lost interest in you. He’ll divorce you sooner or later!”

I felt a flicker of amusement.

Ethan really never changed when it came to women like her. Put nicely, she was naive and innocent; plainly

I glanced down casually.
