An Open Marriage Agreement That He Suddenly Refused To Honor Chapter 03

Ethan finally opened his eyes at last.

But the look in them was still lazy and dismissive, utterly convinced I was just making another scene.

He grabbed the divorce papers and flipped through them casually, only for his expression to slowly harden.

I leaned over to peek, half worried he wouldn’t read it properly.

“There are seventeen properties in total, including the ones in Australia and the States. I’ve had them professionally appraised. I’ll take eight, you get nine.

As for the company, I hold a twenty-two percent equity stake. You have the first right to buy it out at market price.

Everything else is just personal belongings. We’ll each keep our own stuff. What do you think? If that doesn’t work, I’ll have my lawyer draft an addendum.

Ethan sat up straight slowly.

His lazy air faded away in a second, and an overwhelming sense of authority settled over him again.

“Lila.”

He lifted his head to look at me, a cold glint flashing in his narrow eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses.

His eyes were a naturally light color. Under the lamplight, that gaze of his held a chilling, almost inorganic indifference.

“Are you really serious about this?”

I was absolutely serious.

I’d brought up divorce once before, years ago. Back then, I’d cried, thrown tantrums, resorted to every desperate ploy just to win him back.

But this time, I truly wanted to end the marriage.

“What are you after now, Lila?”

Ethan tossed the papers onto the coffee table in irritation,

“Chloe will never threaten your status as my wife. Why can’t you just put up with her?”

He thought I was throwing a fit over Chloe.

Admittedly, I’d lost my temper repeatedly when I first found out about her.

At my worst, I’d wrecked every piece of furniture in the house. I’d sat amid the broken mess, hair wild and unkempt like a lunatic, slashing my wrist with shattered porcelain to force him to break things off with Chloe.

It never worked. He stayed with her all along.

I shook my head.

I’d been such a lovesick fool back then, embarrassingly humble. Even I wanted to go back and shake some sense into that pathetic version of myself.

“It’s not about her,” I looked straight into Ethan’s eyes, a faint awkward smile tugging at my lips.

“It’s a guy I’m seeing. He’s dead set on marrying me, just won’t let it go.”

“I’ve run out of ways to turn him down.”
