After They Sent Me Overseas, I Returned With a Powerful Husband Chapter 10

The first time Ava met Gregory at a coffee shop, Cassian sat at the next table.

A latte sat in his hand, long cold, as he stared at her profile, watching her smile at another man.

Every time she smiled, his grip tightened. Coffee spilled over the rim and burned the back of his hand, but he never noticed.

He tailed her from morning until night that first day.

He waited until he saw her safely home before finally leaving.

The second time, they met at a Japanese restaurant.

Cassian hid behind a partition, hearing every word of their conversation.

She talked about a movie she’d seen recently. Her voice was soft and warm, just like it had been whenever she’d curled up in his arms.

By the third date, he arrived before they did.

He deliberately chose the seat facing the entrance, directly across from where Ava usually sat, wanting to see how she’d react.

When she walked in and spotted him, she froze for a split second.

Then she looked away and calmly took the seat across from Gregory.

Cassian watched her pour tea for another man, hand him napkins, and tilt her head while listening to him speak.

He drained one glass of liquor after another.

Rowan wasn’t any better.

He’d even staged an “accident” to keep them apart by arranging for a fire hydrant outside their favorite café to burst, soaking Gregory from head to toe.

He thought that would end their plans.

Instead, Gregory went home, changed, and came right back to pick up where they’d left off.

Neither of them could stop watching her. One more obsessed than the other.

Until the day Ava returned to the Monroe Estate to pick up her things.

Cassian parked beneath an oak tree across from the estate gates.

He killed the engine, leaned back in his seat, and kept his eyes fixed on the iron gate.

Within minutes, another black car pulled up behind his.

Cassian glanced into the rearview mirror. His eyes narrowed as if he’d already guessed who it was.

He stepped out. Rowan got out that car too.

They stood beneath the streetlight, about six feet apart.

Neither of them spoke. The exhaustion and jealousy on their faces said everything.

Finally, Rowan let out a humorless laugh.

“So… you came too.”

Cassian was about to answer when a scream ripped through the house.

They exchanged one look and sprinted inside together.

What they saw was Sienna on the bed. Ava stood frozen in the doorway.

Sienna huddled in the corner, crying. A blanket lay on the floor beside a tangle of rumpled sheets.

Gregory stood there with his shirt off.

Everything happened too fast.

Neither of them noticed Ava stepping backward, her heel meeting the empty edge of the stairs.

After they finished talking, Cassian walked out of the station, heading for the hospital to find Ava.

“Wait.” Rowan’s voice stopped him.

Cassian frowned and turned around. “What?”

Without saying a word, Rowan held out his phone.

A social media app filled the screen.

At the top of the trending list was a glaring headline.

#SiennaMonroeCanceled

Sienna had built an audience of over a hundred thousand followers by posting cute selfies and slices of her daily life.

Her comments had always been full of messages like She’s so sweet and She’s literally an angel. Not anymore.

Cassian tapped into the trend.

The page loaded, and the screen filled with screenshots and videos.

In every video, Sienna’s sweet, innocent face appeared alongside walls of text.

In middle school, she’d stuffed a dead rat into Ava’s desk.

In high school, she’d cornered Ava in the girls’ restroom with several classmates, dumped ice-cold water over her.

She even announced to the entire class, “Ava’s disgusting. I think she has some kind of STD. Stay away from her.”

There was more.

Back in elementary school, she’d stolen a classmate’s wallet, hidden it inside Ava’s backpack, then burst into tears.

She told the teacher, “Ava stole it. I’m scared of her.”

Ava was called in with her parents.

She’d been punished. Her classmates had isolated her for an entire semester.

Every incident had witnesses. Chat logs. Photos. Proof.

The comment section had completely exploded.

[I’ve followed her for two years. She always cried on livestream saying her sister bullied her. Turns out it was the opposite?]

[So her sister never finished high school because Sienna? What kind of person does that?]

[She built her influencer career by destroying her own sister. Absolutely disgusting]

Cassian stared at the screen for a long time. His breathing slowed.

All this time, he’d believed Sienna was only a little spoiled. A little childish.

Whenever she stood before him with red eyes, saying, “Ava’s mad at me again,” or, “She won’t talk to me, and I don’t even know why she hates me,” he’d always softened.

She was Ava’s little sister. Because he loved Ava, he’d chosen to look after her family too.

He’d never imagined the girl who cried so effortlessly in front of him had done all of this behind Ava’s back.

A dull ache settled in his chest.

He handed the phone back. Just then, his own phone rang.

A name flashed on the screen—Sienna.

He clenched his jaw and answered.

Before he could speak, a broken scream came through the speaker.

“Help me! Please, somebody save me!”
