After Ten Years of Revenge, He Built Time Machine Bring Me Back Chapter 07

Silas threw Elowen brutally against the concrete sidewalk.

“Still haven’t learned your lesson after everything?”

Elowen curled into a tight ball on the pavement, unable to stop shaking.

Silas frowned, confused by the intensity of her suffering—he hadn’t thrown her down with nearly enough force to leave her this broken.

He stepped forward to help her up, but Celia clung to his arm, voice thin and trembling with fake fear.

“Silas, she tried to kill me. What if she shoves me down a staircase and leaves me a vegetable just like your mother?”

Silas’s expression darkened. The hand he’d extended to lift Elowen retracted instantly. He hauled her frail body upright by the collar of her uniform.

“Apologize to Celia right now.”

Elowen went limp against his chest, voice soft and hollow.

“You hate me, don’t you, Silas?”

“Just kill me and get it over with.”

With Lila gone, she had nothing left to live for in this world.

A storm of conflicting rage and aching heartbreak crashed over Silas all at once.

How dare a convicted woman beg for death when she’d ruined everything he loved?

He dragged her bodily to his luxury sedan, shoving her into the backseat and pinning her against the leather with his full weight. His arms locked around her torso like unbreakable steel restraints, forcing her into a humiliating, immobile position.

“Let me go! What are you doing to me? You’re supposed to hate me!”

Silas pressed a rough, burning kiss to the skin of her neck without warning.

Elowen’s eyes blew wide in shock, thrashing against him harder than ever before.

A sharp crack echoed through the car as Silas struck her hard across the cheek.

“Why fight now?” His tone turned icy and bitter. “You crippled my mother, then attacked my girlfriend. This is what you wanted all along, isn’t it? I’m giving it to you.”

The slap barely stung, yet Elowen crumpled as if every bone in her body had shattered.

I don’t want you anymore. I never will again.”

Her voice held no emotion whatsoever, dead and empty. Silas’s chest sank into heavy despair at the words.

He reminded himself over and over she deserved every ounce of his cruelty, that she didn’t deserve an ounce of pity from him.

Yet cruel words spilled out of him unbidden.

“Don’t pretend you’re above this now that you’ve ruined everything. Even being my side piece is far more than trash like you deserve.”

He leaned in to kiss her again, but Elowen twisted her head sharply away, avoiding his lips entirely.

She stared straight into his eyes, every word cold and final.

Anyone else could touch me, but not you.”

Silence slammed down over the sedan, frigid and suffocating. Silas froze like a block of solid ice, then a bitter, mocking laugh burst from his throat, quickly morphing into unbridled, seething rage.

“Drive to Westside Slum Flats,” he ordered the driver.

The car pulled up to the slum district minutes later. Trash littered every sidewalk, homeless men loitered on every corner, the whole neighborhood reeking of rot and neglect. A young woman left alone here would be prey for every dangerous vagrant roaming the streets.

Silas’s tone turned cold and unyielding.

“I’ll give you one final chance. Take back that disgusting line you just said to me.”

Elowen cut him off without hesitation, hand pressed tight to her stomach to quiet the stabbing cancer pain.

“Did your ears stop working too? I’ll say it again for clarity—I’d let any stranger touch me before I’d let you near me. You’re filthy to me.”

Silas’s chest heaved with unbridled fury.

“Fine.”

He dragged her roughly out of the vehicle and tossed her onto the sidewalk directly in front of a blind beggar panhandling for spare change.

“You’ll live here with him for the rest of your life. If I catch you stepping foot outside Westside Slum Flats, what happened to Lila will look gentle compared to what I’ll do to you.”

Lila.

Elowen’s mouth twisted into a hollow, bitter smile. There was no Lila left to threaten anymore.

Silas slammed the car door shut hard, shouting orders at his security guards through the rolled-down window.

“Guard this district day and night. Don’t let her leave the slums. I don’t want a single update on her life ever again.”

He’d been a fool for holding onto leftover affection for a woman who’d destroyed his entire family. He never wanted to lay eyes on her again.

Silas’s car peeled away from the curb fast, tires squealing.

The second he vanished from sight, Elowen doubled over, vomiting thick streams of dark blood onto the dirty pavement.

The one-eyed beggar, Amos Reed, stumbled over to her in a panic, fumbling with ragged scraps of cloth to wipe the blood from her chin.

Elowen’s vision blurred, her consciousness slipping fast. A weak, hollow laugh escaped her lips.

Who would’ve thought the only person to show me kindness in my final hours would be a beggar?

“Don’t die,” Amos stammered, slurring his words from disuse. “I’ll carry you to the county hospital right now.”

Elowen pulled a bank card from her pocket, pressing it into his palm.

“No hospital. The PIN’s the last six digits printed on the card. There’s three thousand dollars inside, enough for you to live comfortably for years.”

“I only ask one favor. Buy a simple marble burial urn for me, then head to the Juvenile Correctional Therapeutic Boarding School to collect Lila’s remains. She loved bright, pretty things—cover the urn with bright vinyl decals for her.”

Her voice faded softer and thinner with every sentence she spoke.

Until no sound left her lips at all.

Silas, I hope you never uncover the truth of what really happened that day.
