After My Future Husband’s Video, I Took $100 Million and Vanished Chapter 09

Vivian threw herself in front of my car outside my villa, forcing the driver to slam on the brakes.

She collapsed onto the pavement, banging her forehead against the ground over and over until it

bled.

“Chloe! I was wrong! I know I was wrong! Julian made me do it! He was the one who came after me first! He told me he never loved you. He said I was the only woman he wanted!”

She crawled toward me on her knees, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.

“Please, Chloe… You have so much money. Just a tiny fraction of what you have would be enough to

save my life. The loan sharks said if I don’t pay them back, they’re going to sell me on the dark

web!”

I stepped aside, unwilling to let her come anywhere near me.

“Vivian.”

My voice was calm.

“I know you faked those wrist-slashing photos to trick Julian.”

“I know you timed everything perfectly. You knew exactly when he’d reject my emergency call.”

“You wanted him to become the weapon that killed our baby. You wanted me to bleed until there

was no chance our child would ever be born.”

The color drained from her face.

Her pupils contracted violently as her entire body shook like a leaf in a storm.

“You should be grateful,” I said, wiping my fingers with a tissue as if touching the air around her had contaminated me. “I chose to end the pregnancy before any of that could happen.”

I looked at her without a trace of emotion.

“Otherwise…”

“You wouldn’t even be alive today to kneel here begging for mercy.”

“Chloe Rhodes!”

The pitiful mask shattered instantly.

She shot to her feet, screaming hysterically.

“You can’t do this to me!”

“You promised you’d support me! You lying bitch!”

“What makes you so special?”

“You’ve always survived by clinging to rich men!”

“You lost Julian, and now you’ve latched onto Ethan Caldwell!”

“I curse you!”

“I hope you die a horrible death!”

The security guards grabbed her before she could rush me, dragging her away as she continued screaming and cursing.

A month later, Ethan held our engagement gala.

I excused myself to the restroom to touch up my makeup.

The spacious restroom was empty.

Or so I thought.

As I looked into the mirror, another reflection slowly appeared behind me.

A cleaning attendant.

Vivian.

She looked nothing like the woman I’d seen a month ago. Desperation had hollowed out her face,

and madness burned in her bloodshot eyes.

With trembling fingers, she unscrewed the cap of a glass bottle.

Inside sloshed concentrated sulfuric acid.

“Chloe!”

“You ruined my life!”

“If my face is destroyed, then yours is coming with me!”

She hurled the bottle toward me.

The thick, smoking liquid splashed through the air.

There was nowhere for me to run.

Just as it was about to hit me, a dark figure exploded into the room like a panther.

Someone shoved me aside with every ounce of his strength.

A sickening grunt echoed through the restroom.

Most of the acid crashed directly onto Julian…

The smell of burning flesh filled the room almost instantly.

His skin blistered and melted before my eyes.

His face became unrecognizable.

Yet he never looked at himself.

His ruined eyes searched only for me.

When he saw that I’d escaped with nothing more than a scraped elbow, a broken smile tugged at

what remained of his lips.

“Chloe…”

“Thank God…”

“You’re okay…”
