Daniel and I huddled together quietly.

I whispered to him, “Didn’t you see all my emergency texts?”

Daniel clicked his tongue in frustration. “Linda threw my phone into a water basin.”

“Why would she do that?”

“She said she’d been drugged, and asked me to choose—her or my phone.”

“What did you pick?”

“She… she kissed me out of nowhere.”

A faint embarrassed blush crept up his handsome face as he spoke.

“Why are you blushing?! Do you have any clue how serious our situation is right now?!” I was on the verge of crying. “I almost booked your entire funeral package just now!”

Daniel stared at me with a complicated expression.

“I’ve been here a while. It’s obvious you were mostly booking for yourself, and mine was just a free add-on bundle deal.”

I was left speechless instantly.

The bullet comments kept mocking us nonstop.

Daniel rushed to defend himself. “I pushed Linda away the second she came onto me! That kind of trouble costs extra fees!”

“I rejected Richard too.”

Silence fell over both of us right after those words.

I’d always had a crush on Richard, and Daniel was head over heels for Linda.
