A Rainy Night Reunion at My Noodle Cart Chapter 08

With trembling hands, I opened my phone.

Using his personal account, Finn posted a series of evidence, with the timeline laid out cleanly from start to finish.

He hit every rumor about me head-on and crushed it with receipts.

He laid it all out clearly: the drugs that forced Cameron and me into the same room, Lila’s staged “miscarriage,” and the USB drive stuffed with company secrets. He even explained how she’d had me thrown from a high floor and then showed up at my workplace with her son to frame me.

The evidence was thorough, with physical proof and witness statements from all kinds of people.

“Ms. Hart told me to drug Ms. Whitman’s drink and take her to a specific room,” one person said.

“I saw it with my own eyes,” another person said. “Mrs. Caldwell never even touched Ms. Hart. She threw herself down.”

“She paid me a huge amount of money to slip the USB drive into Mrs. Caldwell’s jewelry box,” someone admitted.

When people asked why they were willing to come forward, each face on the screen looked ashamed.

“Ms. Whitman is a good person,” one said. “I was blinded by money, and I never imagined it would destroy her like this.”

“She treated the staff well,” another person said quietly. “But their marriage was already a mess, and there was nothing I could do.”

Overnight, the entire narrative flipped.

People started apologizing to me, then turned around and ripped into Lila for being cold-blooded and cruel.

The center of the storm shifted to her and Cameron.

I finally breathed out, long and slow.

Wiping the tears from the corners of my eyes, I called Finn, grateful beyond words.

To gather all of that, I knew he must’ve burned through time, manpower, and resources that couldn’t have been cheap.

Finn chuckled softly, his voice low.

“Ava,” he said, “for you, it’s all worth it.”

Warmth spread through my chest, and heat crept up my face.

After that, I went back to living normally.

When Cameron came to the shop again, he looked noticeably thinner, and the exhaustion carved into his face couldn’t be hidden.

The second he saw me, his eyes filled with tears.

In front of the customers, he dropped to his knees with a thud.

“Ava, I’m a piece of shit,” he choked out. “I blamed you for so long.”

“I should’ve seen it,” he sobbed. “Lila was never as pure as she pretended, and I had no idea you suffered this much.”

“Ava,” he pleaded, “forgive me, I’ll spend my whole life making it up to you.”

The tall man knelt at my feet, crying so hard he could barely breathe.

Watching him, I didn’t feel satisfied, and I didn’t feel wistful.

All I felt was bone-deep exhaustion.

It had been years. What good were these words now, when the damage I’d taken could never be undone?

“Cameron, get up,” I said, my voice tired.

Customers stared at the scene like it was a spectacle, and some people even lifted their phones to film.

I stayed calm.

“Leave each other a little dignity,” I said.

Cameron finally lifted his bowed head, his eyes swollen and red.

“Ava,” he whispered, “does that mean you’re willing to forgive me?”

Hope flickered in his gaze, like he was clinging to something impossible.

I shook my head and held up my left hand, showing the plain band on my ring finger.

“I said yes to Finn’s proposal,” I told him.

“I won’t forgive you,” I said. “I’ll never be able to forgive you.”

“I just don’t want to hate you anymore,” I added, “or be hated by you.”

“Let it end here.”

Then I turned and walked into the kitchen.

No matter what he said after that, I refused to see him again.

Behind me, the sound of a man breaking down filled the little shop.

Only then did Cameron finally understand what he’d lost.
