He Set Me Up at the Wedding, I Took Him Down Chapter 15

Chapter3

I fought Kian Voss

You bastard! He punched me in the face

I hit him back, wild with rage. You’re no better!”

Kian sneered. Right. I’m a bad guy. I wanted her, and I wasted

ten years of her love. I regret it. So what?”

Jaxon, you know how much I envied you? I never had her. I hurt her. I thought you were different. But you’re just a selfish jerk.”

She was with you three yearsnot three days. How could you do this to her?”

I collapsed to the ground. I couldn’t imagine how she’d felt hearing me say those cruel words

She must have given up completely to leave without a word

A real goodbye isn’t loud. It’s silent

Chloe was truly gone

Realizing that, I felt like I was rotting from the inside out

I went back to our apartment

Every trace of her was gone

She’d done it on purpose

Left me with nothing to remember her by

Cutting me out of her life completely, brutally

She was so cruel

I tore through every room

Finally, in the study, I found what she’d left behind

Every gift I’d ever given hersmashed to pieces

She’d destroyed them to show me how much she hated what I’d given her

And the wedding dress we’d ordered in Italy

A long, ragged tear down the skirt

I remembered how happy she’d been when we ordered it six months earlier, how she’d lit up when she met the designer

She’d said she’d be my most beautiful bride on our wedding

day

Her eyes had sparkled

But I’d let my pride

my bitterness, my need for revenge

destroy the woman I loved. Destroy her heart

I’d known all along Chloe’s love was real, passionate

committed to a future with me

We’d stayed up nights together, whispering promises of

forever

But I lost her

My stupid pridejust because she’d loved someone else once

-made me crazy with jealousy

I forgot all the beautiful moments we shared

The diary pages were proof she’d loved me. Now they felt like knives stabbing my heart

I cried as I read them

I held the torn dress to my chest. In the empty apartment, only my silent tears fell

I wanted to spend the rest of my life making it up to her. But

she’d never see me again.
