I leaned against my car, taking deep breaths, but the tightness. in my chest wouldn’t go away. 

The dull pain in my heart turned into a knife stirring, and the 

pain made my hands tremble slightly. 

I pressed a hand to my chest, forcing back the tears.

Jaxon was already feeling guilty. It would be over soon. 

These past few days, I’d taken him to every place we’d had our 

firsts, taking photos together. I told him to make a scrapbook 

-our memories. 

I said it would be our happy keepsake forever. 

As he worked on it, he paused for a long time at every location. 

I knew he was remembering.

I looked up. Kian Voss stood in the sun.

He said. 

“Even after all this, you’re still going to marry him?” 

I didn’t take the water. 

He asked. “Do you regret it?” 

The love I’d given was part of my story. I had no regrets. 

“Would you… consider me?” he asked carefully. 

I almost laughed. 

Are all men like this? When you hand them your heart, they throw it away. When you take your love back, they beg for it. 

“Kian, I’ve told you a hundred times. I don’t feel anything for you. Even if I leave Jaxon, I will never choose you.” 

“Why? We’re a good match in this world. We’ve known each other for years. We understand each other.” 

I scoffed. “So I have to pick between you and Jaxon? Can’t I live fine without either of you?” 

“I-” He reached for me, but I stepped away. 

A familiar voice came from behind. “What are you doing?” 

I turned around. Jaxon stood in the sunlight, his face in 

shadow, his eyes dark and dangerous. 

A heavy, threatening aura surrounded him. He punched Kian in the face. 

Kian reacted instantly and hit him back. 

“Kian Voss, you touch Chloe again and I’ll kill you!” Jaxon roared, his eyes red with rage. 

Kian shot back, cutting him deep. “You’re no hero. You chased Chloe just to humiliate me. Admit it.” 

“Can you say your feelings for her are real?” 

“I’ve wanted Chloe, but she never looked at me. What about 

you? Does she know about your little side girl?” 

Jaxon froze. 

He looked at me, terrified. 

“Baby, let me explain.”
